Glad it only took about a week for WYZE to restore this basic functionality that people depend on. Security camera and company my butt!
I think Wyze is the only one that thinks these are security cameras (and only their marketing department).
Guarantee you the CEO doesn’t have his house protected by Wyze cams.
In all honesty all camera manufacturers think and claim their cameras as security cameras. Even Tapo and Reolink. The problem with wireless cameras is that they are at the mercy of internet/network quality. Also, all of us (yes @dave27, even you 
) use and deploy these cameras as some sort of security, sometimes false sense of security.
The problem is that only Wyze breaks basic functionality and negates their claims and makes a joke of themselves in the security camera field.
In my case they are a “nice to have” and if footage was lost or missing it wouldn’t be the end of the world. In most areas of my small property, someone would have to pass by at least two different cams (different models even) to do anything, so I have that redundancy too.
If I crossed the line into “need to have” I would be on a wired system from your neighbors Lorex or similar.
So far I’ve only experienced annoyances and glitches that can be worked around. When all else fails, I have the SD card video there, so I guess I’ve lucked out. I’m not one to pay for subscriptions unless absolutely necessary (and/or piracy gets too risky or time consuming). I’m sure I’d be more upset if something I was paying a monthly fee for wasn’t behaving as advertised.
Wyze has been good for me for 7 years. I paid $25 for a V2 camera and not a penny more after that. It’s hard to argue I did not get my money’s worth, even with a handful of issues over the years like this recent one. All of these companies have problems at one time or another. It’s not like Ring never had an outage.
I don’t use it as a security camera in the true sense of the word. It’s more to just know when someone in my own house leaves or arrives home or, a package is left on the steps.
I’m moving on. I just setup a competitor’s camera with Apple HomeKit. It’s the same concept, but relying on Apple instead of Wyze.
One of the reasons I left wyze, my same feelings about Wyze and their use for security.
Plus the fact you have to “babysit” every camera and check that the SD is actually recording and if it’s corrupted by the Wyze cam and needs a reformat.
And lastly the actual quality of the cams lenses that eventually have adhesive failure and let moisture in when used outdoors and exposed to elements.
Out of my 9 Reolink’s there are 2 that are hard-wired internet. Those are in strategic locations that oversees a majority of the property so if the Wi-Fi ones fail I still have 2 that can notify, besides the notifications that my other camera’s went offline.
