What was the process to get your replacement? I was working with tech support on this forum and got ghosted when they came up with no solution.
I called twice and I attempted to do the messages. But I talked to a lady first who told me it was āhaving trouble connecting because it couldnāt differentiate my two different Wi-Fiās.ā So I had to split my Wi-Fiās.
even though I had no issues connecting my cameras which are also through Wyze (I have kinetic fiber internet so it was only one wifi name for both frequencies). But I called and the first time it was telling me it was have connection issues. Nothing changed until I got the Wi-Fiās split. After resetting it a million times and my internet, it let me redo it and then was getting stuck in the finishing setup screen. The last guy I talked to tried to tell me my Wi-Fiās were still not separate which they were. He eventually told me heād send me an email to get information to go ahead and send me a replacement. Honestly, I was getting super annoyed with all of the customer service because I felt like I was being spoken to like I was stupid. All in all the thermostat I had was faulty and was still within warranty so they replaced it. I now have to send the faulty one back.
I would contact (call) support and have them send a replacement. Itās faulty equipment.
Same problem. Called support, described the problem, waited on hold while they talked to a product specialist. Came back on, told me to try something I knew wouldnāt work (forgetting the WiFi network on my phone, then reconnecting to it and trying again), finally said theyād ship me a new one (āas a one-time courtesyā) and not require me to send them back the bricked one.
Apparently the replacement process takes a couple of email exchanges. Now Iām waiting on their first email to me. (Got it about 15 minutes later.)
Update: After providing the requested info I got an email saying theyāre sending me a new oneāas soon as theyāre back in stock. āNo worries, we are almost done with replenishing the stocks.ā :-/
Update2: 6 hours later and I just got a shipping notification. ā4-10 business daysā.
Always make sure they send the email before you hang up the phone. I had a lady send my first one to the wrong email address.
Agreed. Get the ticket email while on the phone. Waited over a week before trying back before needing to start over.

At this point⦠WYZE has to know they have a problem with the firmware/software. I wish they would let customer service issue a replacement right away instead of having them go through all the troubleshooting steps knowing that it wonāt do any good⦠and wasting everyoneās time.
WYZE please just do the right thing and replace the thermostats⦠or come out with a firmware update that will allow the wifi network name to be changed. Show good customer service and people will spread the word about how great WYZE is⦠vs how fast bad news spreads.
Exactly, I agree. I spent an entire day dealing with this and they acted like it was something I was doing wrong or blaming my internet. It was extremely frustrating jumping through hoops for something that is 100% their error.
Let me just add a hearty āMe, tooā to everything thatās been said in this thread. One of my thermostats started randomly losing its wifi connection. It was at my cabin, so I pulled it out and took it home. Set it up and itās been working fine there. Then I brought the fully functioning Wyze thermostat that had been at home up to the cabin and itās failing at the finishing setup stage. I suspect the whole thing is a combination of a bad firmware update, issues in the Wyze cloud and problems in the app. Please, please fix this.
Hello everyone. When I setup my thermostat, I too had the problem of not finishing setup. Went thru the CS\Replacement hassle. 2nd one did the same.
Then I realized that even though my WiFi was on, and my Bluetooth was on, My GPS location service was off. I turned it on along with the other two and it breezed thru setup. I popped the original one on the wall and it too breezed thru setup.
I suspect it has something to do with the Thermostat needing the location so it can calibrate and suggest weather\energy saving trends for your climate region. Either that or they are just collecting data.
Please check that all three are on when you start the install. No promises ⦠Just relaying my face palm
experience.
Jeezā¦ā¦I installed a thermostat at a clientās home a few months ago and now this same thing is happening to it. Itās getting hot as the days pass by here in the south.

Wyze Team in this thread above:
Thanks for the info. I saw that response earlier and had already tried all those things before jumping into the forums. Iāll try my luck with customer service next.
Weāll all be interested to hear what you learn. Given the number of folks seeing this issue, I cannot believe that itās a problem with the thermostat itself. Itās gotta be a bad firmware update, an app issue, or a problem in the WYZE cloud. A thermostat that was functioning perfectly āfailedā in this manner when I tried to reconfigure it.
Did anybody got a resolution of "not finishing setupā?
new wifi router (new home) ā tried to adopt 1 out 8 and bricked on 1st one⦠wheel spinning.
I am with support, no answer yet - and yes, i restarted my pc (distressed lol)
They sent me a replacement thermostat and it solved the issue.
That may rule out the Wyze Cloud and the Wyze app as culprits, but Iām still not convinced that it isnāt due to a botched firmware update. Resetting and reconfiguring a thermostat that has been working flawlessly shouldnāt cause it to fail.
bcausby, can you share what version of firmware your new thermostat is running?
Just went through the same thing, It worked fine for more than a year, then yesterday it lost wifi and all I got was āWYZEā. I reset the thermostat, rebooted the router, and reset the wifi, It still will not complete the setup. Since the house is now in the high 80ās, I just pulled it, put my old Honeywell back and I have A/C.
