My 3x telephoto is next to my V3. During the day, the colors on the 3x are muted and objects gray compared to the v3. The x3 does not clip the highlights as badly as the V3.
on a crop of similar sections of the photo, you can see the x3 has more detail, as expected. At night, the x3 has nice colors. I cropped both to the right to show date and time, then cropped the OG to show a similar area.
I have OG, OG Tel, and Panv3. The OG tel is more muted and grey than the other two. Haven’t noticed until you mentioned it. Makes sense though, it is likely the same image sensor with a telephoto lens, and telephoto lenses require more light.
There’s probably a difference at night too, just a lot less noticeable.
They’re both overexposed, that’s how these “starlight sensors” aka color night vision work. But the 3x lens on the telephoto reduces the light available to it, so it isn’t as overexposed (and also has worse color night vision performance).
It would be nice if we could adjust exposure and saturation.
Now I am anxious to see how my new OG-Tel will be since I decided to order one last night.
I have the OG and the tele. I don’t like the base of these cameras. I prefer the V1/V2/V3 base.
I’m the opposite, I prefer the OG base. Depends on each person’s use case I guess.
I might actually consider swapping my regular OGs with v4s when they go on sale next month, but because it would require totally changing the mounts and drilling new holes, etc, not an option.
I can understand that. My OG-Reg wants to tip over.
Where? Are you talking about holiday sales or something specific?
I really have more cameras that I need at 9. I have one v2 just sitting in a drawer.
My other v2 are using a bridge and one is in the garage using the handy magnet to stay up. V4 is nice, but the v3 is good enough for me. I don’t need the spotlight. I am still undecided about the OG. Curious to use the OG-Tel.
