Was on the website looking at possibly upgrading some of my old cameras (V2). While there I clicked View my Cameras. 5 of them the connection failed repeatedly. However, grabbing my android phone and using that app, they all connected just fine. I find this a little strange. While on the website I submitted logs. I guess we will see what happens.
What Web browser were you using? Were you trying to view only Cam v2 streams?
Opera. The cameras that didn’t connect on the website were a mix of V2 and V3 models. A Bulb cam, and 1 each of a V2 and V3 did show. I just found it odd that they show fine on my cell at the same time.
Good to know, and thanks for the additional information. I was asking because Wyze has been recommending (some might say “requiring”) the use of Google Chrome since around the launch of Cam Pan v4 last year, and they’ve updated some of their Help Center information so that it’s primarily advising the use of Chrome, as well, and also because when I’ve tried using Mozilla Firefox in the past I’ve never been able to see any Cam OG streams in Web View, so I wondered if that’s what you were experiencing.
I would expect Opera to work pretty well since (like Chrome) it’s based on Chromium.[1] I don’t have any Cam v2 or Cam v3 models, but sometimes even my Bulb Cam’s feed will fail an initial stream load in Web View, so I have to try to reconnect it with the “Refresh” button on the Cam’s view pane in the browser or just refresh the Web page entirely. I think the Web Portal is still a work in progress, though I haven’t seen any updates from Wyze in Update on Wyze Web View for a while.
Other things I’d consider trying:
- Ensure that your Cams are all correctly attached to whatever subscription(s) you’re using.
- Hit the “Reset Services” button in Settings for each problem Cam (assuming Cam v2 and Cam v3 have that option); note that you’ll want to review your other settings (e.g., Event Recording, Notifications) if you do this, because Reset can sometimes make changes to those. I don’t know if this would have an effect on Web View or not, but since the ability to view multiple Cams simultaneously in the portal is a subscription-based feature, then refreshing that connection to the service seems like a reasonable thing to try.
I’ve also noticed that the performance I see from Web View is dependent on the performance of whatever PC I’m using and its Internet connection. I don’t know if you have the option to try something different, but that might be something else to consider.
Even though Opera and Microsoft Edge are apparently not supported for viewing newer Cams where Wyze insists Google Chrome is necessary, I’ve been able to force those browsers to work with things like Cam Pan v4, but I don’t think that’s your problem. ↩︎
