SOLVED: Robot vacuum does not connect to wifi

Can Mamibot Wyze vacuum cleaner support clearly state for all users which characters are not allowed in the WiFi name? I have not been able to find a definitive answer. The statement that ‘special characters are not allowed’ is not very precise.

Here’s what I did and one of these things is what helped (I suspect it’s most likely turning off Mobile Data on the phone):

  • Updated the Wyze app
  • Allowed access to Location ALWAYS (not just while in use) for the Wyze app
  • Switched “Improve Location Accuracy,” off and back on (navigate to Settings > Location and ensure the main Location toggle is turned on. Then, select Location Services and toggle on “Improve Location Accuracy,”)
  • Connected to 2.4 Ghz Wifi
  • Turned off Mobile Data on the phone ←- This one is what likely helped
