Solar Cam Pan - Unable to use because of the lawyers?

Its pretty bizarre that I can’t set up the Solar Cam Pans I’ve already purchased but haven’t yet set up (but I can use the ones I’ve purchased and already set up) just because someone used the wrong screws to mount the solar panel to the camera. Common sense seems to have left the process.

Common Sense & Wyze = An Oxymoron :winking_face_with_tongue:

FYI:

It’s been a very long time without an update from Wyze! Very frustrating. Unfortunate we all suffer for someone’s stupidity.

The most recent official update I’m aware of was in the banner topic less than a week ago:

Hopefully we’ll have better news by the end of this week.

My Wyze Solar Cam Pan just got turned off by Wyze without any prior notification to me. It simply disappeared from my Wyze Cam + account. It was correctly installed and functioning well, I depended on it entirely for monitoring a remote property which I cannot easily access. Is it so unreasonable to make a distinction between functioning cameras already in place and some moron who allegedly tried to use a wood screw in a machine screw tapped hole? Wyze’s blunderbus approach to the “problem” has it’s liabilities too.

How will we be notified when the install app is going to allow the Solar Com Pan install from the Wyze app. I’m waiting patiently and would prefer not to return this wonderful camera.

Users in Important Safety Notice: Wyze Solar Cam Pan are reporting today that they’re able to re-install their Solar Cam Pans, and that’s what I’m seeing in Android production app v3.14.0.807 now.

I’ve been using my solar cam for about a year. I changed my WiFi and now my functioning solar cam is off the WiFi. Does this make sense! It’s been installed correctly (according to instructions) and currently running “but” I can’t access it because of some fool or worse, some money hungry person (via lawsuit) put screws through the solar cell & battery. You need to intentionally try to do this, in my opinion.

If you’re using a current production app, you should be able to initiate the in-app device add flow for Solar Cam Pan as of today. Once you see the “Battery Warning” screen and tap Next, you should now have the option to “Reset Wi-Fi for an installed device”.

I haven’t attempted that flow because my Solar Cam Pans have remained connected to my home Wi-Fi and functioning during this recent recall period, but the app indicates that this should be possible, and users in a related topic have reported success.

My installed one has remained working, but now I’m hoping I can go ahead and install my other two solar pan cams…

Please listen to this happy customer - I LOVE the form factor of the Solar Cam Pan. I have dozens and dozens of your cameras and devices and it’s at or near the the top of my all-time favorite list!

I recently tried to buy more and my searching eventually lead me to consiousness of the recall. Sigh. It strikes me as a case of idiocy combined with typical defensive legal posturing… Sigh.

Please re-design (not that it needs it) and re-release it!

Please note that Solar Cam Pan has been available again for setup within the app since yesterday. See Wyze Solar Pan Cam Recall Information details for the most recent information and Important Safety Notice: Wyze Solar Cam Pan for older details, if interested.

When will I be able to buy more of these cameras? I’ll even buy them without the revised installation instructions. LOL.

This is what I’m talking about - it is simply not available (errr, “sold out”) in your store.

And as for Amazon - the product detail page from mt previous Amazon order doesn’t even exist anymore!

It’s not my store. This Forum is primarily a user-to-user support community, with no guarantee that anyone from Wyze will read or reply to any given topic or post. I’m just one of the volunteers, and I don’t speak for Wyze.

Having said that, I’d suggest signing up for the stock watch to be contacted when it’s available again. Right now I’m seeing that it’s possible to do that in the app. I don’t know why it’s not currently appearing on the product page on the Web site.

Regarding the Amazon product listing, I know that Dave (one of the Wyze co-founders) commented in another topic that they paused all retail listings a couple of months ago. If you’re not seeing it from a previous purchase and that purchase was from Amazon itself (not a third-party seller on Amazon’s platform), then there may be some lag in getting that re-enabled. I’ll ping someone at Wyze about that, because I’m also not seeing Solar Cam Pan currently in Wyze’s store on Amazon.

As of 6/6/26

If you update your WYZE app, you’ll be able to install the camera within the app.

Happy user is back online with my solar cam. They (Wyze) just had to update their instructions with “big” warnings to use the proper screws in the proper place or acknowledging that the solar panel is not mounted to the battery
