Shared Wyze Cam lack of access

I shared our cameras with my wife. She is unable to to look at the cameras and watch an event or manually check random times that continuously record. She is only able to see the flagged event snapshot. Essentially they are useless to her. When Im away/out of pocket how is she supposed to use these things? Is the answer we should have a shared email/account for the cameras/app? Kind of lame if you ask me. If you share it… it should be shared!

Welcome to the Forum, @rondon600!

If you want her to have full owner access to the Cams, then the answer at this point is probably “yes”. That’s what a lot of community members report doing despite how that conflicts with accepted security best practices.

I don’t disagree, and there’s a relevant Wishlist topic that I’d really like to see Wyze take some action on:

As with any Wishlist topic, you can visit that one to click or tap the Vote button above the initial post and share your ideas and use cases in the comments to show your support for the product and feature request/suggestions that are important to you.

That indicates that you’re not a subscriber to any plans. If you subscribed, then even the user(s) you choose to share with would have access to recorded event videos from the cloud. As a non-subscriber, even the Cam owner sees only still snapshots when reviewing events (like in “Recent Events” sections or on the Events tab), but at least the owner can retrieve microSD card recordings (which is what I believe you’re describing).

Please understand that I’m not trying to encourage you to subscribe. Lots of Wyze users don’t subscribe (but also don’t share Cams, or they might choose to share account credentials if they do share the Cams) and still report feeling like they receive good value from the product. I just think it’s important for you to be aware of some of the limitations when using these Cams without a subscription, and there are benefits to subscribing, but even subscribers can’t currently designate permissions for shared-access user tiers.

Turn off cameras and reset them using her email. Restart the set up. Once her email is in the system she can take full control of the system any time she wants. I have the opposite problem. Trying to get my tenant out of the system. Once they’re in I don’t believe there’s anything you can do. Anyone can take control of your cameras if they can take your cameras down and reset them

That is not a solution to OPs problem as then OP would lose access.

Your issue is totally separate and is normal behavior for any camera (or just about any IOT device). If you give someone physical access to be able to reset something, they can reset it. Just like if you left your keys sitting out they could go make copies of them.

That’s the answer to the initial question in the topic you created, and it’s not limited to cameras from Wyze.
