Sense Hub: internal battery replacement

Hi all. My Wyze Sense Hub’s internal backup battery is clearly depleted (which I would actually expect after a solid 4+ years of solid, always-on use). It will no longer accept a charge from any adapter, and the app is consistently telling me that the battery is low. Is a replacement available?

Officially speaking, the battery is non-replaceable.

Unofficially speaking, I know of multiple people who have replaced the battery.

As I recall they followed these steps:

  • power down the hub and disconnect it the power cord
  • unscrew and open it up
  • find the exact kind of battery and order a matching one from AliExpress or Amazon or wherever
  • remove the dead battery (I don’t recall if they had to cut the wires out not, but I assume so)
  • insert the new battery and connect it in the same way the last one was connected
  • screw everything back together and plug in the power

I remember they confirmed it totally worked to do this.

Obviously, do it at your own risk. I haven’t personally had to do this yet, I am only reporting that I know if at least 2 people who successfully replaced the battery. I don’t recall if they were public conversations or not. I remember one was here on the forums though I haven’t seen that individual posting for a while. I remember he did show me pictures of the dissection and repair. I thought it was cool. So I’m only reporting that it has been done.
