SD card not found on my pan cam

Here is what I see on mine. This must have started with a fairly recent app or firmware update:

Go to camera live view → tap SD card - all is fine
Pull up the events list in that same view → Tap an event → Tap SD card - all is fine
Go to events tab → tap an event for a Panv3 there → tap playback - I briefly get a “Failed to load from local storage” then it starts playing. After testing multiple events from my two Panv3s, I did finally get the “no SD card inserted”. But going to either of the two views above still works fine after getting that message.

I wonder if it is something to do with the fact that #3’s screen has “playback” instead of “sd card”. It is like it is a different view from the event view under the camera itself. The app may be somehow confusing the old and new interfaces.

Honestly I don’t do the #3 process all that often. I do not have notifications enabled for the Panv3s as they would alert all day, so I’m not sure which screen the notification takes you to when you tap it. #1 and #2 I do somewhat regularly and they’ve been working fine, no issues there.

I’m guessing it is some combo of firmware and app version, since OP has an older firmware cam that doesn’t do this. I don’t want to attempt to format my SD cards as they have 2 weeks of video I might need, but I do not see this as an SD card or camera hardware issue, this is a glitch in the app, apparently related to certain firmware versions.

EDIT
Just turned notifications on for a bit for one Panv3. Tapping the notification does take you to the #3 screen (the one with “playback” instead of “sd card”) and I get the brief “failed to load” followed by it playing back fine. I suspect this is related to the same issue that makes my Panv3s not have full motion video on the “favorites” screen, and sometimes even in cam group view, but that is just a guess. But going to the event view for that same event under the cam itself (the one with “sd card”) does not give any error.

So I guess you have to ask if this is too big of a bug/hassle to deal with. Probably something that needs to be reported to Wyze for an eventual fix but that won’t be immediate.

A workaround right now is when you get a notification and go to the still image, tap “livestream” then swipe up the “events” from the bottom, the most recent should be the one that notified you (or even if you’re looking later, it should be there, maybe further down in the list). Tapping that and then SD card should work fine.

Apologies if I added confusion, since I don’t use notifications on these cams, had no idea that the screen from there was slightly different and that was the one you were having issues with. I’ve always used either the recent events “drawer” that slides up from the bottom, or just gone into the SD card and used the timeline to scroll between events.

EDIT 2
I forgot I have a phone that runs the 2.5 app still. Seeing the same behavior there. In fact it is more repeatable, one cam always now gives the brief “cannot load” followed by playing the video fine, the other always gives the “no sd card” error. But again only from the events or notifications, viewing from either of the two places on the cam screen works fine on both.

So this does appear to be firmware related, since @tlhutch4 does not see the behavior on an older firmware Panv3. Given that I rarely have used that screen, hard to say how long ago the issue was introduced. The latest firmware came out quite a while ago.
