I am having the same problem with the schedule for the second outlet being unreliable on my outdoor plug. Works some days some not. It is a local schedule so should not be related to wifi or network congestion issues, just unreliable firmware. Any schedule for fixing? I have lots of wyze devices but problems with simple issues like this make me think it is time to make a switch. If they can’t solve simple issues like this then how can I trust them for more complex scenarios.
When replying, the forum told me the problem was solved!!?? Automation alteratives are NOT a solution, they are a temporary work around. Not all locations have access to 100% reliable internet connection and rely on local schedules which is why local schedules are essential for me and others.
The person who created the topic chose another post as the “solution”. That’s a privilege Discourse assigns when you create a topic. Neither the Forum platform nor Wyze designates solutions to questions/problems posted here: That’s up to the users who create topics.
I agree with you about the need for reliable Local Schedules when constant Wi-Fi isn’t an option. This problem should definitely have a more permanent solution and work as expected.
Okay, I have good news and bad news. The good news is the work around for the automation is working. I have it set to come on at sunset and off at sunrise. The bad news is socket 1 is now giving me problems. This is at least the 4th night. The first night, I thought I accidentally hit a button and turned it off but on the second night, I knew something was up. It is also set to come on at sunset and off at sunrise. Around the same time every night, it is now turning off. It’s not too far from the sunrise time, 12 hours ahead. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not. Today, I also tried putting it on the automation but it did NOT work, It still turned off around the same time. I’m going to change it from the sunset/sunrise time and put in specific times and see if that helps. So weird this has just started happening! @carverofchoice @Crease
Does the app know where the Plug Outdoor is supposed to be geographically in order to determine sunrise and sunset times? I haven’t yet set up testing, but I’ve noticed in the past that whenever I enabled Vacation Mode for Wyze power and lighting products things would turn on outside of the times they were supposed to be on, and I’ve sort of assumed that this was because I hadn’t set a location in the app (at Account ➜ Home), but I’m not sure if doing that solves it. I would expect sunrise/sunset settings to want access to this information, too. Otherwise, how do the Automations know when to send the on/off commands?
I’m just speculating here, though.
Yeah, maybe there is a daylight savings bug involved too.
It’s weird that it now suddenly stopped on plug 1 when plug 2 started using the cloud automation rules/schedules instead.
@krr1975 and others with this issue, will you please take the time to submit a log for this issue and then post the log number here?
To submit a log: Open the plug from the devices or favorites page → select the settings gear icon → Wyze support → submit a log → other
I’ll see if we can get something passed on to someone at Wyze. Lots of people buy these to use with outdoor lighting on schedules and if that primary functionality is broken they really should look into it at least to see how much effort it will take to resolve.
Also, if anyone else seems to have a cloud automation rule schedule (not just the local schedule in the plug itself) for this not working right, please also speak up.
A log for that cloud automation issue can be done by going to the account tab → wyze support → submit a log → account and services → Automation
Yes, my location is set.
I will do that. I now that you mentioned a daylight savings time bug, my indoor plugs all switched to turning off an hour earlier that I had set the after DST. I had to manually change each schedule an hour to get back to the original shut off time.
@krr1975 WyzeJason just updated us that they found the issue and fixed it. Try removing your rules and setting them up again.
Great news! I have now done that with both sides of the plus as socket 1 is still going off around the same time every night when it’s not supposed to go off until sunrise. I’ll see what happens tomorrow and let you know. I did remember that I started having problems with socket 1 after I unplugged the plug. Hopefully this will fix that too. Thanks so much @carverofchoice
@carverofchoice i am thrilled to say that both sockets on my plug are now working as they should, in the sunset/sunrise schedule! Thanks again for your help! Merry Christmas!
That’s great to hear! I’m pleased they got this resolved during December when most people will be using it. Merry Christmas to you as well.
