Robot Vacuum Software Dissapointment

got it. It is possible the quick-map is only in the beta app (it’s hard for me to track what’s out in the regular app as i only have the beta). Since currently you are having the same issue over and over, i would recommend getting onto the beta just to get that feature, and you can go back to regular app later. (if you need instructions for how to do that I can try and get that togther)

As for the maps, i don’t think it’s ever completing the map, so you are still in the mapping phase. In the current state you basically can’t touch the vacuum as it’s mapping (not ideal, will get better, but that’s where we are). And I don’t even think it will recognize the virtual walls before it finished creating your map. That’s the benefit of the quick map, it quickly maps it all out, without trying to drive under things. and then once that map is generated you can add virtual walls and then send it for a cleaning.

Hope this helps

what version of the app and firmware are you on? also android or ios?
There’s definitely split room functionality, and as far as I know that is in the latest public release, but I do use the beta version to get the latest features so if someone else who does use just the public release and can confirm that they have it that can help. You can also try using the beta app to see if you have better results with that.

I just received my robot vacuum yesterday and have spent the last 4 hours trying to get the WIFI to connect and set it up. No luck so far. I’ve followed the instructions and reviewed all the posts with no progress.
I have four cameras and the door lock which setup and work perfectly, I was hoping for the same with the vacuum. So far I’m very disappointed.
I’ve gotten no response from the Wyze support so far.

Sorry you’re having this experience. This seems to be something new that appeared over the last week where people trying to set up the vacuum for the first time are seeing what you are. They did mention a couple of weeks ago that there was a firmware update that needed to be made because there was a breaking change on a server side update. I’m guessing the firmware they shipped a batch of vacuums with didn’t have that and are currently in limbo state. I’d keep trying to reach support, to make sure they are aware of the issue and to get an update on the status of the resolution.

Those screenshots are from when I stopped it and sent it home to try again, it definitely finishes mapping, albeit all off kilter and that doesn’t do any good.

I’m in the Android beta, but I believe only the iOS beta has the quick map function because I don’t have that option. I stopped using the split room function because that seemed to make the mapping worse for me, causing the robot to think it was stuck outside of walls, not thinking it could get to the dock, etc.

Just for clarification purposes, I’m rather techy and have done all the trouble shooting and isolating I can think of to identify the issue, but I think it’s just something in the firmware or hardware in my vacuum-and not anything in the environment in my house. Only way to know for sure is wait to see if a future update corrects it.

Just saw, they are definitely looking at this, here’s a quote from earlier. thought i’d post here as well since it was brought up:

I’m not using the beta and quick mapping is available for me on Android. It only shows when you reset the map

McLovin, thanks for the info. btw, do you know if there is a difference between the 3 buttons:

  • Vacuum > Settings > Reset Map > Reset Map
  • Vacuum > Settings > Map Editor > Remap
  • Vacuum > Settings > Map Editor > Delete Map

It’s definitely confusing right now, have you tried all? do all have the same effect on quick mapping? I’ve only remapped prior to the quick mappng functionality and at that point there was just the one “Delete Map” button.

I don’t know exactly programmatically they appear to do the same though. @UserCustomerGwen could you help shed some light on this

Hmm, wonder why I don’t seem to have the option. I just double checked and I’m on the most recent version.

What vac firmware and app version are you running

IT’S your map currently set? Quick mapping only shows when there is no map

I’m running FW version 1.6.97, Plugin version 1.7.6, Wyze app version 2.17.6 on Android. I have my rooms mapped. When I go to Settings>Map Editor>…(more), I see Remap, Delete map, and Cancel. I didn’t know those options were there until rdnaskela23 pointed it out today. Thanks!

It’s set now, but I reset the map everyday, otherwise the vacuum starts drawing over it and royally screwing everything up. I’ve never seen the option.

After clearing the map I don’t have that option. Confirmed vacuum is currently selected as opted in for Beta, as well as the app.

Vac FW 1.6.97
App v2.16.55

The vacuum draws it’s path over the map as it goes. It starts with a trip around the room

I understand what quick map does and how it maps, I simply don’t have the option in the beta app for whatever reason.

Here’s a clean that was just attempted using the map it drew last night.

Map from last night, completely accurate:

Cleaning it just attempted and was well on its way to completely screwing up the map, so off to dock and clearing the map and retrying:

I am not able to see the below two options. Using latest IOS APP version 1.6.97
Also seeing some glitch in the map. In the attached screenshot it is doing only some portion of the room instead of the complete room. There are no objects in the way in the room but still doing only some portion. Somehow it has calculated only some feet in the room and excluded the remaining. May need to rest the map (whenever we do this every time the cleaning has to be done for the whole floor which is not a happy thing to do)
Anyone else encountered similar issue?

I’m on app beta version 2.17.6 you should update your app

Play Store tells me there are no updates available, otherwise I’d love too.
