Thanks. All I did was test a theory when presented with a problem. Besides, I’m retired with too much time on my hands occasionally.
Wyze Bulb V1 using app version 2.47.0.373 STILL DOES NOT CONNECT! Try again guys!
Wyze Bulb V1 using app version 2.47.0.373 STILL DOES NOT CONNECT! Better luck next time! I’ll have to reload an older version again.
@WyzeJasonJ , problem may not be fixed yet.
Is it still happening in the 2.47 public release,
Edit: Saw the report above, I will let them know tomorrow.
I took a NEW Wyze white bulb sealed in a box yesterday morning that was bought in May of 2020. I then put my phone in Airplane mode (so mobile data was off).
I turned on Wi-Fi, and made sure I was on the SSID that the cameras are on.
I turned the lamp with the new bulb in it off and on 3 times, and noticed it was now blinking (in pairing mode). I fired up the Wyze 2.47 Android app, selected the add bulb old style. Connected to the weird Wyze temporary WI-Fi, and waited for it to complete. It worked for me on Android (maybe not Apple).
WyzeJasonJ:
I had an old style 2019 bulb already setup, I turned it off/on 3 times to get it into pairing mode (flashing). I used the above instructions to add it back and it worked fine too, it even performed the firmware update. I think the key is to go into Airplane mode to get your mobile data out of the way, and make sure you are on the proper SSID. This is all Android though, I cannot test it on an Iphone unfortunately. I added an old interior plug the other day on the 2.47 app (brand new out of the box), and it worked too.
A John Stockton response. ‘Just playin’ ball. Get back on defense.’
I don’t know if it’s related, but I have an original color bulb on my front lamp that it recognized during the setup process, but refuses to complete setup. I tried at least 5 times. So it may not be limited to v1 bulbs now.
carverofchoice:
Did you try putting your phone into Airplane mode then enabling wifi and using the SSID the bulb needs to attach to?
I had to do that on the old v1 bulb I added the other day (it was sealed in the box).
Thanks, I remember having to do that with V1 bulbs too. Never had to do that with color bulbs before, so I didn’t try it, but it’s a good suggestion. I’ll give it a try next time. Might also try a different phone. I used a pixel, and I know they’re often more finicky than other models with radio signals.
Seems this problem might have come back with v2.50.6 (469).
After seeing someone else had a problem with Wyze 2019 bulbs, I found I have a similar issue. I cannot see the bulb network when setting up each of two bulbs.
Thanks for any info.
Tried on Android and iOS. Latest app is broke.
