Outdoor plugs, schedule works on 1 plug and not the 2nd plug

Hmmm , before setting up automations, I had 4 double outdoor plugs with same schedule on ALL 4 (8 sockets). Actually 2 schedules for each plug…on at 5:30 am/ off at 7:30 am; as well as on at 4:30 pm/ off at 12 am. Since none of the 2nd sockets are following any schedule, I just set up automations for every socket 2 to follow it’s own socket 1 schedule. Hopefully it works

:crossed_fingers:

How cool would it be if these Outdoor Plugs worked like they are supposed to.?

Kludgy work-arounds kinda defeat the purpose of having devices like Outdoor Plugs. Basically, the amount of time I’ve put into figuring out why the don’t behave as expected is actually longer than it would take me to go unplug my Christmas lights daily for the rest of the holiday season…

The original workaround :joy:

Hello everyone,

I know many of you have been experiencing an issue with the Wyze Outdoor Plug where the schedule would only work on one side of it. I have some good news we have found the cause and fixed the bug, the bad news is you will need to recreate the rules that do not work as they will continue to not work, but creating the new rule will fix it.

Thanks for the update! When you say…

Is that recreating the Local Schedules by navigating in the app to a socket, then Settings ➜ Schedules? I just want to be clear, because the work-around up 'til now has been to use Automations (formerly Rules) to accomplish what was failing with Local Schedules.

Is this via a firmware update? My outdoor plugs are not offering one…

My guess (and that’s all it is) is that this is a backend fix (because of the way some app features work) and that recreating the the Local Schedules on the Plug Outdoors will have Wyze servers send the correct data back to the devices so that the schedules will actually save correctly and execute as intended.

Otherwise, like you, I would’ve expected to see a firmware fix.

Better late then never, only took 10 months. Makes you wonder how long this really took to fix.

I am waiting for @WyzeJasonJ to respond to @Crease who responded with the exact comments I was about to post. Automation/Rule eliminate and implement new local schedule on plug 2? This begs for greater clarification.

Ditto!

This is what I’m hoping for.

The local schedules are preferred - when they work:)

Hoping for some clarification ASAP.

For what its worth, I just created a schedule on outdoor plug socket 2 to come on at 11:20 and turn off at 11:22 and it correctly responded, so will set it up for Christmas lights tonight and see how it goes

@hoops296 - Thank you for that update. I currently have an automation (rule) on plug 2. I’ll switch to a schedule this weekend or wait to see if you update again.

Well, outdoor plug 2 operated correctly for turning on my Christmas lights, so maybe it’s all good so far, now to see if they turn off at 10:00pm
I did turn off my automation for the outdoor plug 2 before doing these tests

Edit: I’m also using outdoor plug 1 on schedule for Christmas lights also and it’s still operating correctly also

At 10:00pm all the Christmas lights shut off, so I’m going to declare whatever was done to correct the outdoor plug socket 2, a success, at least on my outdoor plug, your mileage may vary.
Now to check out the mornings results

Thanks for testing and reporting your results!

Thanks, great to hear positive outcome. I’ll change my plug 2 from automation to local schedule tomorrow rather than wait until the weekend.

All Christmas lights turned on again this morning on both outdoor plug sockets 1 and 2 at 6:30 and off at 8:15, so all is good here.
I did forget to say yesterday I did not unplug or manually reset the plug, simply just turned off the automations and set up schedule for the plug 2 as I wanted to test it then, interested to hear from some one who simply just turns schedule on to see if that works also, but I suspect it will now.
