Wanted to purchase air filter, but unable to delete the order protection fee. Deleted it several times but kept reappearing in my cart. Went to amazon and bought it instead. Very shady Wyze!
I remember in a past order this summer I would click delete on the order protection and it re-added it and I was similarly frustrated. Then I learned you can’t remove it by just deleting the line item, you have to go “uncheck” the option for it on the shipping method section or will keep adding it back in because it is still checked to charge for it It looks like this:
If you uncheck that it should remove the Order Protection successfully and stay off the order like this:
If you do that and it stays on then it almost definitely means there is a browser cache issue and you should clear your browser cache (ie: the browser cache is glitching thinking the option is still checked when you clearly unchecked it…it is a bug from the browser).
I hope that helps. Wyze hasn’t yet, to my knowledge, ever force order protection, but sometimes people don’t realize they have to go uncheck the option for it.
Same problem. Trying to order some clear V4’s.
Did you get it to work following my above post? You just have to go uncheck the checkbox for it as I showed above.
There was no way to uncheck it on the web: I tried 2 browsers in Windows, and removed it from my cart a dozen times, but it kept coming back. I finally was able to uncheck it in the Wyze app on Android.
Interesting. I’m glad you found a way to get through it.
If anyone else experiences the above, please also report the details.
Maybe I missed it hiding under shipping method on the web, but I thought I looked there too.
I checked again, and I did find the checkbox this time. It is very easy to overlook. I assume that is on purpose.
Possibly, but I believe the order protection is actually through a 3rd party, so I don’t believe Wyze really profits off of it. Furthermore their website indicates their shopping partner is Shopify. So I believe it’s mostly the way they have it setup and that the order protection money goes to and through the third party without Wyze having a significant incentive to care whether or not people use the order protection or not. But it is certainly possible.
Is Wyze still responsible if the order is damaged, lost or stolen even the extra shipping insurance is not purchased since Wyze is the seller?
I stopped shopping at an online retailer after seeing this charge and disclosure at checkout.
I didn’t see anything in their policy about that:
Thus, it will likely fall to conventional standards. Responsibility can depend on a few variables:
The terms of the sale, the shipping method used, and the seller’s policies.
General Guidelines:
- Seller’s Responsibility: Sellers are typically responsible for ensuring that items are properly packaged and labeled to withstand shipping. If the item was not adequately protected, the seller might be held liable for damages.
- Shipping Insurance: If the seller or buyer purchased shipping insurance, the insurance company would cover the cost of the lost or damaged item up to the insured value.
- Carrier’s Responsibility: Shipping carriers (e.g., USPS, FedEx, UPS) have their own policies and liability limits for lost or damaged items. So it partially depends on the carrier’s terms and conditions.
- Buyer’s Responsibility: If the buyer provided incorrect information or refused to accept the package, they might be held responsible for the loss.
“Stolen” can depend on when it was stolen. If the carrier took possession of the package, then it is their responsibility up to the point of dropping it off at your porch. Once it touches your porch, packages become your responsibility, even if a porch pirate steals it.
The proper procedure is to file a claim if something is lost or stolen. I’ve had to do this many times at my last house because FedEx sucks. You should file a claim with both the carrier and the seller. Often the seller helps and sends a replacement but the carrier may pay for it if it’s proven to be their fault within their terms.
Since Wyze doesn’t list policies different from conventional standards, it seems they’re likely using convention. The delivery protection likely covers anything out of the ordinary not included in the carrier terms.
