I just put up a Can v4 to watch the driveway and I’m generally satisfied with it. However it has one quirk that I’m wondering about. I also have it watching one of our cars parked out on the street. The problem is that if something else “trips” the notification alert such as a cat running up the driveway or someone walking across the sidewalk it will also say “vehicle detected” even though it has been parked there and hasn’t moved for awhile.
Is there a way to still have it “watch” that car in case there is something that happens by it but not say vehicle detected for every time someone is on the sidewalk?
Mine just started doing this too, it must be a bug that I hope WYZE fixes. I just updated my app and that did not fix this issue, the cameras firmware was already up to date. Frustrating!
Or more accurately AI does NOT work… Funny how a person walking can be detected as a vehicle and their only solution is to turn off vehicle detection… especially on a paid service.
Enough pixels change on the camera in X time that it “detects motion”
Clip (or possibly just a single frame) is uploaded to Wyze servers for “AI” analysis
Wyze server sees vehicle, person, pet, whatever in the frame, tags whichever one is most prominent.
I believe there is a wishlist item to try to limit the “AI” to a smaller area, perhaps tell the server what coordinates detected the motion, which might help. But the technology has its limitations obviously, repositioning/aiming the camera with the above knowledge in mind may help.
You can understand why I’m using quotes around “AI”…
The detected person triggers the event and notification, but the AI looks at the event and looks comfortable recognized object and tags the video as such. The recognized object tags are recognized objects either they are moving or stationary. If a vehicle was moving, but a person is in view and standing still, it should trigger a vehicle and person tagged event.
If you have motion tagging enabled, the green box will just indicate your detected motion by an overlay of the video, not what the AI tags are focusing on.
I’m finding the video doorbell useless for motion detection. I have the detection zone set for just portion of my driveway near my house but everytime a car goes by on the street, which is not in the detection zone, I get an alert. And then today someone parked in my driveway near the house , in the detection zone, and no alert.
