Not getting doorbell pressed notification on multiple phones

We have had a Wyze camera eco-system for several years. We have two Android phones that use a common account so that we can both control the cameras. I recently installed a Video Doorbell V2. It is sending presence notifications to both phones, however button pressed notifications are only going to one phone. I don’t want to use the VOIP option as that probably only alerts one phone number.

I have checked the app settings on both phones and they appear to be the same. Is there some specific setting that I might be missing?

Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum, @ej.heller!

What happens when you test this? In my experience, enabling Virtual Calls rings more than one phone, and it’s an easy way to make those stand out from the noise of other notifications. That’s with phones logged into two separate Wyze accounts and the Video Doorbell v2 shared to the second account. I haven’t tried with two phones running the Wyze app and signed in with the same account credentials.

Is this only in-app settings between the phones? What about app settings at the Android OS level, like if you long-press the Wyze app launcher icon, select  App info from the pop-up menu, and then compare options in the Notifications section? You might also want to check the App battery usage section here in App info, as some users have reported more reliable and timely notifications when giving the Wyze app Unrestricted background usage versus Optimized, though I wouldn’t expect that to make a difference specifically with button presses if your other Video Doorbell v2 notifications are working.

If you’re finding that all those settings are the same, then you might want to see if refreshing the local account data on the problem phone makes a difference.

This is how I would get a clean copy of my account profile/settings on Android (click/tap to expand):
  1. Clear the in-app cache: From the Wyze app’s home screen, navigate to  Account ➜ App Settings ➜ Cache File Size ➜ Clear.
  2. Navigate back one screen to Account and tap Log Out at the bottom.
  3. Swipe the Wyze app out of the running Android apps.
  4. Long-press on the Wyze app’s launcher icon (on the phone’s home screen or wherever you tap to initially open the app) and then tap App info in the pop-up menu.
  5. Tap  Force stop on the App info screen (may need to tap OK to confirm) and then tap Storage & cache.
  6. Tap  Clear cache and  Clear storage on the Storage screen.
  7. Back up one screen (back to App info) and then tap  Open and proceed to log back into your Wyze account/app. (Optionally reboot the phone at this step for good measure and then launch the Wyze app after the fresh boot instead of relaunching it immediately from this screen.)

Note: I don’t know what the options would be for modifying these steps on iOS since I don’t use that platform.

You could also try uninstalling and re-installing the app on the trouble phone. I didn’t see that mentioned in your troubleshooting.

What other details can you share about the phones and app versions you’re using? I recall reading about an issue with Android 16 on Pixel phones last summer. I haven’t followed up on that, so I don’t know if that continues to be an issue or not. I’m just thinking that if the trouble phone is affected by this bug and already has an un-cleared Wyze app notification in the tray, then that might be preventing the button press notifications that you’re missing. I’m just speculating about that, though. :man_shrugging:
