I just had ny duo installed (electrician was sick).
I am hardwired with only 2 wifi chimes and 2 cams hooked up to chime.
I am also a cam unlimited subscriber.
Not very loud… Maxed out on 6, playing a Christmas tune cuz it was the loudest I could choose from.
Chimes only ring once upon a bell press… About 2.5 seconds…?? Wtf…??
Notification on phone upon a bell press is a single wyze auditory notification… Same as when my backyard cam picks up my pet… And it only notifies once… again… WTF…??
Even though i have shared everything with my wife, she has no notificatiin settings in her wyze app… So seemingly only i can change notification settings, for all users…??
Is there a way to repeat the chimes and notifications on the phone…??
Is there a way for the camera chimes to play something other than the default sound which is fairly non-distinctive…??
I don’t own a Duo Cam Doorbell, so I can’t answer all of your questions, but I think I’m able to address at least some:
This is the standard experience with Wyze doorbell models, at least in my experience, and I believe it’s why so many users choose to enable the VoIP option, because it’s one way to clearly differentiate doorbell button press notifications from all other Wyze camera notifications. From the app’s Home screen, tap Account ➜ Notifications ➜ Push Notifications ➜ Voice Over IP ➜ Voice Over IP Calls toggle from (off) to (on). When doing this on an Android device, you’ll want to pay attention to the note at the bottom of this Help Center article:
It’s kind of like granting permission for your doorbell to call your phone, and it’s my understanding that each user who wants to receive VoIP phone calls from the doorbell will need to do this on his or her phone (so your wife would do this separately).
Note that I linked to a Help Center article for Video Doorbell v2 because I didn’t see a similar article for enabling VoIP for calls from Duo Cam Doorbell specifically, so I’m assuming the new doorbell also supports this feature, because all three previous Wyze doorbell models do.
There are other ways to get a specific camera to generate distinctive notification sounds on Android devices, but those involve the use of third-party applications and are not native to Wyze.
Unfortunately, this is currently true for all Wyze cameras, and it’s one of the disappointments that I’ve voiced frustration about in a Wishlist topic:
Please feel free to visit that topic, hit the Vote button above the first post, and share your comments and/or use cases.
Thanks for the detailed reply.
O turned in the VoiP option and i think that will work great. It appears to call a number in Washington… I am in Canada…lol
Unfortunately, when i changed my setting to include VoiP, that feature did not transfer ti ny wife’s account…
Please don’t tell ne she would need her own Cam Unlimited account… That would be total [Mod Edit] on Wyze’s part!!
I also note that ahe us unable to see sd card recirdings, which is also [Mod Edit].
You’re welcome, and I’m glad my response was at least somewhat helpful.
Yes, that’s why I previously wrote this:
She would need to go through the same process to enable VoIP calls from the doorbell to her phone.
No, that shouldn’t be necessary. She’s using a different Wyze account and device, though, so she’ll need to walk through the VoIP process to get the calls. If you’ve shared the doorbell to her Wyze account and then she enables VoIP, then that should be enough.
Yes, that’s another shortcoming that many Forum users have complained about and is listed as a request in the Wishlist topic I linked in my earlier post.
It’s not in the doorbell camera’s settings. Like I wrote before: From the app’s Home screen, tap Account ➜ Notifications ➜ Push Notifications ➜ Voice Over IP ➜ Voice Over IP Calls toggle from (off) to (on). Again, pay attention to the note for Android users in the Help Center article I linked above. When enabling this feature for the first time, she’ll want to be at the doorbell with her phone in her hand so that when she presses the doorbell button to place the call, she can grant the approval when prompted on her phone. After that, it should work pretty well.
Thanks guys…
We are now both usung the VoiP option…
Something I have noticed is that i am getting ‘motion’ recordings and notifications… Especially at night…
When i watch the video, I don’t see any motion…??
Also, shouldn’t it only recors and notify what i tell it, in the settings…??
Lastly… I have set the warning’you are being recorded’ for the night hours… (homeless folks about). When i have gone out to test it… It either doesn’t start… Or when it does, it keeps repeating, even after i clrar the area…??
(Not loving the wifi in-house chimes… Sound terruble and not very loud!!
