Not getting any push notifications

I can’t seem to figure out why I’m not getting any motion notifications of my camera. I used to work fine. Then mine stopped…and recently the ones on my wife’s phone stopped. Both using iPhones.

  • Notifications are on in the app
  • Notifications are on in settings
  • Push notifications are on in the app
  • There is no line through the bell in the app
    Is there a way to figure out why it’s not working?

Mine stopped the other day and just needed to reboot my phone. This was on Android and may have been an issue with my phone, but if you haven’t tried it, worth a shot. Has happened to me once or twice before with same resolution.

The phones have been rebooted a number of times. No changes. (usually weekly)
Are push notifications even working or is the service dead?

Mine have stopped also, I use to get notifications regularly .

Well - that sucks. Considering I’m paying for this service, maybe it’s time to cancel and find another solution that’s reliable.

Mine have been intermittent too, the reboot solved it for a while but I can see I haven’t gotten any today even though there are events.

@WyzeJasonJ is Wyze aware of any service disruption?

Seems to be on and off as I got several yesterday, but a couple days ago they weren’t working and a reboot appeared to fix it, maybe it was coincidence.

I’m getting all notifications. There is no outage.

For your affected cameras, go into the settings for one of them and click “Reset Services”… refresh the app… wait about 5 min and then reboot the camera. See if anything changes.

Doing a reinstall now.

Uninstall and reinstall fixed it, at least for now. I tested reset services and it didn’t help, but right after the reinstall I tested and it came right through.

There’s been something going on with notifications, some were coming through as “Wyzemessage” and others as the second one Wyzemessage1 or 2 or whatever. Probably just another app upgrade bug/glitch.

@ronaldyoungblood7 and @lance.holland I’m on Android, but may be worth a shot on IOS also, if reset services doesn’t work.

Uninstalled…reinstalled…and restarted and I got a notification.
Thanks for confirming that the service is still working.

We have not had any service disruptions that I am aware of, have you started to get them again yet?

Once I reinstalled the app they started working again. I tried everything else I could think of prior to that with no luck.

I didn’t check to see if there was an app update recently before I uninstalled and reinstalled, the one in Play Store says february so don’t think it was update related.

There is definitely something going on. Yesterday I got about 2/3 of the notifications I should have. Today I was getting none. After rebooting the phone they seem to be working again, but I’ve never had to reboot the phone daily just to keep notifications working.

Next time I notice it I’ll try force stopping and starting the Wyze app to see if something to do with it is getting stuck.

I did try resetting services and rebooting the cam before the phone reboot, neither one fixed it.

Happened again today. Was able to resolve it by force quitting the Wyze app and re-opening it and they started working again.

Phone has not gotten any OS updates in months. Wyze app hasn’t updated since February according to release notes.

So that tells me it is one of two things:

Some link between app and Wyze servers is getting severed and restarting phone/app re-establishes it.

There is some bug related to the latest app and maybe it didn’t become apparent until recently, but I know by mid day if I’m not getting notifications and definitely would have noticed if had been ongoing for more than the last week or so.

Perhaps another glitch/bug related to daylight savings time (there were issues when the US changed, and UK is about to change soon)…?

Submitted log 1800216 from the cam that gets the most notifications (an OG).

I force quit the app around 4:08PM EST today. Prior to that I had gotten no notifications after 8:11AM EST, even after testing walking through the area. Immediately after, about 4:09, it started working again.

I don’t really expect much from these cams, they serve my purposes well, but notifications is one of those things that needs to be reliable. I even have a camera that is specifically there JUST for notifications when someone or a package breaches a very specific area (my front steps), since the other cams covering that area would have way too many extraneous notifications, so this particular OG was purchased and aimed downward from above the area specifically for the purpose of notifications.

I’ve confirmed the problem exists on another OG as well. Unfortunately I don’t use notifications on any of my other models of cam so can’t say if it is across all models, but I would assume so as it appears to be an app/server problem and not cam specific.

When the issue happens, an event IS logged, and it does trigger a recording to SD, but notification is never received. Green box is there, event is listed in all the usual places, etc. So it isn’t a detection problem.

I am experiencing the same thing, something that I have never seen before is a red banner that says “notifications are turned off go to settings” When I go to my iPhone settings everything is set up correctly. This is an issue that just started happening to me recently. I called and was on the phone for a total of 2 hours. One hour the first time and they informed me that I would receive an email which I never did get. Was told if I didn’t hear anything within 48 hours to call back with my log number. I did that and was on the phone for another hour. Then patched to a higher tier person Leo was awesome and fixed my issue. But now the problem has come back and continues to shut off my notifications on 10 of my 13 cameras. Very frustrating!

That’s odd, I see that message when I first reinstall the app but never again. Could be related, something messed up in the app for the linkage between the app and the system, but since the android app (what I’m using) hasn’t had any updates in over a month seems unlikely to be update related.

I’ll enable notifications on my old phone running the 2.5 app and see if there are any differences, but based on the pattern probably take a day or two to see.

My old phone with the 2.5 app got several notifications this morning, but my main phone with the 3.x app did not. I have to keep force quitting and reopening it to get them working again.

So on the phone with the 3.x app you do not get any notification but you do get it on the 2.x app, do I have that correct? If so can you get me the exact version numbers of both apps (found in Account → About and also submit a log from the 3.x app when a notification should have happened (and let me know the log number) along with the time the notification did happen on the 2.x app.

Correct, after enabling alerts in the 2.x app last night, this morning I had at least one notification that only came through on that one, even though the two were in basically the same spot.

I submitted a log in a post above for yesterday from the 3.x phone, but I’ve submitted two more, one from each phone. Not sure if the history in the log goes back far enough to see this morning/yesterday or not.
