New Phone - Wyze Cam v3 Not Recognized

I’ve read may posts on this subject with conflicting answers. EX: (1) Download the App, login in and that’s all. (2) Need to redo the whole setup with the new phone.

The WYZE APP is downloaded on my new phone. I’m logged in with the same account that was my with old phone. Still no camera. After tapping the WYZE icon my phone immediately displays the “Add Device” screen. My WYZE Cam3 has the latest firmware.

FWIW, I also have the lamp socket which isn’t, obviously, recognized either. So, what am I missing or doing wrong? Do I really need to get it off the soffit and go through the whole setup procedure again? Please LMK.

Welcome to the Forum, @Obi-Wan!

If the camera was accessible using the Wyze app on the old phone and you’re logging into the Wyze app with the same account credentials on the new phone, then the app on the new phone should see the camera when you’re logged in, because it should be pulling down a fresh copy of your account profile from Wyze’s servers.

I wonder if you transferred apps from one phone to the other when you set up the new phone. I’ve seen situations where apps on the new phone didn’t work correctly after doing this, so I’ve had to uninstall and reinstall the apps. Before doing that, though, you could try forcing the app that’s currently on the phone to grab a fresh copy of your Wyze account profile.

This is how I would get a clean copy of my account profile/settings on Android (click/tap to expand):
  1. Clear the in-app cache: From the Wyze app’s home screen, navigate to Account ➜ App Settings ➜ Cache File Size ➜ Clear.
  2. Navigate back one screen to Account and tap Log Out at the bottom.
  3. Swipe the Wyze app out of the running Android apps.
  4. Long-press on the Wyze app’s launcher icon (on the phone’s home screen or wherever you tap to initially open the app) and then tap App info in the pop-up menu.
  5. Tap Force stop on the App info screen (may need to tap OK to confirm) and then tap Storage & cache.
  6. Tap Clear cache and Clear storage on the Storage screen.
  7. Back up one screen (back to App info) and then tap Open and proceed to log back into your Wyze account/app. (Optionally reboot the phone at this step for good measure and then launch the Wyze app after the fresh boot instead of relaunching it immediately from this screen.)

Note: I don’t know what the options would be for modifying these steps on iOS since I don’t use that platform.

If that doesn’t work, then I’d probably take the more extreme steps of uninstalling the Wyze app, rebooting the phone, installing the Wyze app from Google Play Store, rebooting the phone, and then logging in and seeing what happens.

Thanks Crease. I’ll try your suggestions after an important call comes in. I can’t remember if the app migrated over during the transfer or if I actually had to get from Google Play. I’m leaning more towards the latter.

Have you tried “Reset Services” in the App?

That wouldn’t be a bad idea if the app could “see” the camera, but if the camera isn’t even showing up as an available device in the app…

…then I don’t know how @Obi-Wan would even get to a place where the Reset button would be visible. :man_shrugging:

Good point. Maybe the OP next might try grabbing an older version of the App. I am still using 2.50.

Double check that you are logging in using the correct email. This happened to me; I tried to login using another Wyze account that I only use for purchases. Yes, I got an empty camera list.

You’re almost certainly logged in with the wrong account. It can get confusing as you can have an account for purchasing stuff/support and a different one for the cams. Further confusing it is that you can set up an account with your email address and have a totally separate one using Google or another type of login.

If you can’t figure out the correct login, you can factory reset the cams and set them up on the account you’re using now. Just note that if you have any Wyze Cam Outdoor models (the ones with the base station), do NOT do that. For those you must log in to the old account and “release” them or they will get bricked.

I am. I only have one email associated with WYZE.

Ooops, I thought I only had one email. When I finally looked at the accounts it turns out you were right, One phone had a Gmail, the other had a a Yahoo. I logged out of both, then tried logging back in and it won’t accept either login on either phone now. I think I’ll just delete everything and start from scratch.

If you still have a working phone, open the Wyze app and go to "Account->Account and the active, working email is there.

You need to password reset your email accounts.

You are confusing yourself with the multiple accounts.

Just reset password and only using one email on both phones Both phones however want me to do the setup procedure again. I’m okay with that, kind of having to pay for my own mistake.

If you’re having problems keeping track of your emails and multiple accounts, give Thunderbird a try. Runs on Windows. I have used it in the past, and found it clunky and barely usable.

The new version is much better and you can access all your web mail; hotmail/outlook, yahoo, gmail.

I wonder if you’ve run into the same situation as my mom. I tried to get her to switch to Gmail years ago, because she was using a Yahoo! Mail address (the full address) as the username for a Google account and also had a second Google account with an actual Gmail address. At some point—I don’t know if she created it or if Google “helpfully” created it for her—she ended up with yet another Gmail account that’s actually {her_Yahoo!_Mail_ username}@‍gmail.com, and I’ve received things like Google Calendar event invitations from that e-mail address, not just {her_Yahoo!_Mail_ username}@‍yahoo.com which she prefers to use.

Unless you have a compelling reason for using the separate e-mail addresses, I’d consider trying to simplify to a single account.

I’m glad you got it figured out!

All good. One hiccup, Wyze didn’t find the modem first time. I had to enter its password on the next try. Yes, remembered to turn off all the 5Ghz channels first. Automatically restored all my original settings and migrated everything to the old phone too.

As for multiple emails. Gmail is family and friends, Mail is Marketplace only, Yahoo is everything else due to 1TB storage.

Thank you all
