New apps sucks sucks sucks

To be frank, these cameras are NOT security cameras. They are just something to play with and watch things going on where you don’t need to rely on instant recording and notifications. For real security you need a different system and it’s gonna cost you a lot more.

Yeah the new app format doesn’t do much for my wife or me for that matter

Completely agree. Not only does the layout make no sense, I find it so much slower and because of that, it has trouble connecting to live view of the doorbells and cameras. Was a big supporter of Wyze, but have nothing but negative comments to anyone who asks about it now.

I would disagree with you… until App 3.0 came out. Now, I completely agree. The new App has made what used to be a fairly decent security camera system into just something to play with and not useful at all.

Agree
The new app really sucks. We have a spare iPad which has the old app on it and we will not be updating it.

Totally agree. I’m thinking Wyze wasn’t too Wyze hiring these people or person. If they want to make a change before putting it out to the public make darn sure ALL the bugs are worked out before doing so. Don’t make changes, let people complain about it for obvious reasons and make changes as you go. Any knowledge computer tech should know this. What they should do is put back the original app and work on this new one and work out the bugs thoroughly BEFORE bringing it back to the public.

Agreed, on what planet did someone sit down and say “well this is better” this updated app sucks A**, to the point that if it stays like this I may just swap out my 4 camera’s for a brand that uses common sense.
If this was the first app that came with the camera I’d say ok, but to replace a functioning app with this garbage is brutal.

I’ve already started replacing WYZE devices with something else… 40% done - and I had about 80 devices…

I have been doing that as well. The Wyze devices work most of the time, but a lot of the time I will get a message saying that it is offline and I have to drive 600 miles to reset it. At this point, I’ve replaced all six devices with Reolink, a company which sells inexpensive cameras that never have a problem. The only thing I miss about the Wyze is the form factor but I would rather have something that works. When I get a text message showing motion and a video, I frequently am unable to get ahold of the camera which had no problem in telling me about the motion but is unable to show me a live picture. Idiot devices.

[Mod Edit]: Fixed post formatting issue.

Yes exactly this. You get a motion notification and can’t connect to view live. So frustrating. Definitely switching to something more reliable, unfortunately such a waste of the money already spent.

Put Kasa mini smart plug in front of all your cameras. It enables remote resets.

I’ve been replacing with a combination of Tapo and Reolink depending on application. I can integrate with echo Hub.

I have 3 Android phones and an Android tablet. The Wyze app will only run on one phone. With the other three, they won’t even open - they just hang up on the splash screen

What are you doing with all of those old Wyze cameras?

Maybe Garage Sale in the spring. I haven’t thought about it. If WYZE fix’s there app (unlikely), I may use them for Odd situations that may crop up.
I need ti inventory them to see what exactly I have because some of them where super weathered from being outside and I tossed them.

I’m down to 7 camera’s. 2 will be replace in January. The remaining 5 are the original Outdoor cams and I may keep them because of how they’re being used and a suitable replacement isn’t available.

I got rid of my Wyze cameras as well and went with Riolink. the form factor of the Wyze is nice but the Rio link always works. In reviewing videos you can tell more where the action was and advance easier than you can with the Wyze cameras. In trying to bring it up on the Internet from a remote location, there is none of the irritating delay and frequent enables that you get with the Wyze cameras

I’m not a fan of the new Wyze app version 3+. It has caused me a lot of problems with my Android devices (tablets and phones). One of the things I have been able to do on some devices, when they hang on the splash screen, is press the Overview button (Android devices usually have three buttons at the bottom. BACK, HOME and OVERVIEW, sometimes called the SCREENS button) and then reselect the Wyze app. This seems to kick-start the app into working. It has helped on some of my tablets. Didn’t need to be done with version 2 app but it’s needed on version 3

That worked partially. It loads and shows my 2 cameras, but won’t load the picture. On the phone I am trying it on now, the screen goes white

I went with a combo of Reolink and Tapo. At one property I went 100% Reolink outside and sprung for the Home Hub. Tapo cameras inside.
At another I have a combo of Reolink and Tapo outdoor.

I guess they don’t have any good forums over there. Glad you are here to share your insights. :sunglasses:
