Need to physically reinstall just to change wifi subnet?

I just reconfigured my home network and now I need to move all my IoT devices to a new subnet.
So, I saw that I should reset the thermostat…but to my dismay, it wants me to go through the whole process of installing it physically, even though it’s already been installed for over a year.
I’m hoping there’s a way around that, that’s a huge hassle having to go through that whole process in the app, taking the device off the wall and tracing the wire colors, all just so I can change my subnet…but I’m guessing there’s no way around it.
So, really, this is more of a rant. Y’all need to make this easier, I’m just changing subnet, SSID, and password ffs,
This is poor design and it doesn’t make me want to recommend this thermostat to any of my friends.

Here is a Wishlist that you can support that requests just this. Make sure to vote and comment to help!

Well, if you simply want to change the IP subnet, kill the power to 15+ seconds. And when it boots back up, it will request a new IP address from your router’s intenal DHCP server and it will then be on that subnet the router is on. Simple.

It’s not great, but you shouldn’t need to actually go through any of the rewiring steps. Just need to remember if you have a C adapter, you’d need to tell it that you don’t have a C wire during setup. If you pull your thermostat off the wall and take a picture of the back-plate, I can probably tell you exactly what to tell it during setup so that your system works properly.
