Need for additional door bell chimes

I’m sure that if the ability to have more than one chime connected to the wireless video door bell it would be a big seller.

I have found that having more than one chime is no longer a good idea as that when things are running in my house you cannot hear the single chime.

Please reconsider a way to add chimes to the wireless video door bell. It will help older folks as well as be more convenient for even younger ones too.

The Video Doorbell Duo can support multiple Chimes. However, Wyze has not selling it separately yet. I believe that will be an option in the future.

This is very disappointing to hear. I’m sure I’m not the only one that has been vocal in having more than one chime. I can’t hear the chime when I’m in the basement or opposite side of the house and have missed deliveries and unexpected guests numerous times because I only have one chime. How’s about Wyze reconsider this option, please!!!

I have 2 duo wifi chimes that I will not be using. I was successful with my existing house chime and the controllers from the v2 I replaced. Best offer that includes paying for shipping.

Would you please clarify which doorbell model you have? The topic is tagged video-doorbell-v2, but I’m getting the sense that you’re talking about a single separate plug-in chime that connects wirelessly to the doorbell, as in the original Wyze Video Doorbell (with Wyze Chime), Video Doorbell Pro (with Chime Pro), or Duo Cam Doorbell (with Wi-Fi Chime).

Video Doorbell v2 is designed for wired use with a home’s built-in chime, but it can also use the “Cameras as Chime” feature with Cam OG, Cam OG Telephoto, Cam Pan v3 and Cam v3 acting as accessory chimes. This is how I have my Video Doorbell v2 set up to use cameras as additional chimes for the basement and garage. Duo Cam Doorbell also has the “Cameras as Chime” feature.

Hi,

I purchased the following in December 2022 from Amazon.

Wyze Wireless Video Doorbell Pro (Chime Included), 1440 HD Video, 1:1 Aspect Ratio: 1:1 Head-to-Toe View, 2-Way Audio, Night Vision

I came with the wireless chime already programmed to the doorbell.

I would have purchased the wired version if I could, but unfortunately where the old wire was is now sealed in a ceiling and not available for me to us. I can only use something that is wireless.

That additional detail is helpful. Thank you for taking the time to provide that.

Unfortunately, with Video Doorbell Pro, you’re pretty much limited to the single Chime Pro that shipped with it:

My understanding is that Chime Pro essentially acts as a wireless hub for Video Doorbell Pro and that the doorbell camera unit connects to your home’s Wi-Fi through the chime, so the Chime Pro that’s pre-paired to the Video Doorbell Pro is essential to its operation.

Like @spamoni indicated, though, the new Wi-Fi Chime is anticipated to be sold as a separate accessory at some point, potentially as early as December:

My understanding of that particular device is that it operates as a separate Wi-Fi device on your network and in the app and is designed to work with all Wyze Cam models, so that might be an option for you and your Video Doorbell Pro once that becomes available:

Do you still have them?

Can one use the included WiFi chime with the duo doorbell AND use camera chime too as a second chime?

With the new duo doorbell one basic function is chimes and for sat two story home one upstairs one downstairs should be considered basic design, function……aka selling additional or backwards compatible for previous chimes …

I have not tested this myself, but in the settings page of the Duo Doorbell you can add wifi chimes, camera chime, and your home chime. I believe the home chime will require the same adapter the doorbell 2 has.

I can test the camera chime later today if you would like.

@spamoni - For the duo, you can add camera chime to operate in addition to included wifi and/or home mechanical chime. One of the first test I made when I set up my duos. The v2 chime controllers are needed to avoid reported audible current feedback when using house chime. However, there was some reported success w/o the controller using the included jump wire between the trans and doorbell teriminals. If the jump wire is missing (as some have reported) connect the trans and doorbell wires together with a wire nut. You need to maintain the trans and doorbell mutual connection to charge the battery in the doorbell.

Hope this helps and maybe save you some time. [If you are like me, you’ll want to test anyway!]

That is great info thanks.

I realize this is off topic, as the original poster reported use of Video Doorbell Pro and your comments are about Duo Cam Doorbell, but I think this could use some clarification:

I think it’s important to define “success”, because in this case it wouldn’t include a ringing mechanical chime. Using the jump/fuse wire (as per the wiring instructions for Video Doorbell v1 and Video Doorbell Pro) effectively bypasses the chime, and connecting the FRONT and TRANS wires directly completely bypasses the chime. While that might be desirable for some users, those wanting to have as many chimes available as possible—including a home’s built-in chime—might not consider the loss of a chime option to be a success.

With Duo Cam Doorbell, bypassing the built-in chime in the way you describe is reportedly an effective way to dispel the phantom ding-dongs that come from wiring that model without the Chime Controller and would be a reasonable solution for someone who doesn’t have the Chime Controller available and doesn’t wish to have the home’s built-in chime ring at all.
