Wyze Duo Doorbell with existing chime wiring

When I got the first generation of Wyze’s Video doorbell I had to remove the wiring from the existing chime box as per the installation instructions.
It looks like with the Duo doorbell, you can use the existing chime box. So I could plug the cable I unplugged years ago (I hope I took a picture of it) and it should work normally, even for the 2 chime boxes (upstairs and downstairs) I had?

On a separate note, does Wyze Duo support 2 Wyze Chimes (I’m talking about the Chime included with Wyze Duo). I’m having trouble hearing it from upstairs, which is the reason I wanted to hook it up to the existing Chime box as well.

Yes it does. Once/If Wyze Sells the Chimes separately, you can add multiple chimes.

Welcome to the Forum, @aboldt!

If you’re talking about something like a mechanical chime box in the home (probably with FRONT and TRANS terminals or FRONT, TRANS, and REAR terminals), then it should be possible to get your Duo Cam Doorbell to ring that if properly wired to power and if a Chime Controller is installed. The current problem is that Wyze Chime Controller is not available for separate purchase (though hopefully that will be remedied in the near future).

It is possible to wire your chime without Chime Controller, but many users who have done that have reported humming, buzzing, and/or phantom chime sounds (i.e., the doorbell ringing when it shouldn’t and when no one has pressed the button), so it’s not something I would advise.

Something else to consider since you mentioned two chime boxes:

That’s a discussion that includes posts from someone adding a relay into the setup in order to power 3 chime boxes with Video Doorbell v2. I don’t know if that would be useful to you or not, but there it is.

Regardless of whether or not you still have a picture of your original chime box (pre-installation of the original Video Doorbell), an inexpensive multimeter should be able to help you determine which wire goes where inside the chime box. That’s what I used to resolve a wiring issue with my own Video Doorbell v2.

The instructions and the image CLEARLY show 2 chime controllers installed to support 2 doorbells. https://support.wyze.com/hc/en-us/articles/19767143061659-Wyze-Doorbell-Chime-Controller-Installation-Guide

I’m aware of that, and I’m also aware that the article for the alternate wiring instructions includes a diagram showing two Chime Controllers installed, but both of those pictures are for connecting two Chime Controllers to the same chime box. The original post here was asking about an installation with two separate chime boxes:

That seems like a potentially more complicated animal, because the request (as I understand it) is for advice to get a single doorbell to actuate two different chimes. That’s not the same thing as installing two different doorbell cameras and having them both connected to a single chime box.

Sorry, i misunderstood the problem. I think you can use two chime boxes from an online retailer. Amazon.com : doorbell with 2 chimes

No sweat. As I understand the issue, @aboldt already has two chime boxes installed in the home but disconnected them (or at least disconnected one of them) at the time of the original Wyze Video Doorbell (v1) installation. I think the goal is to now have a Duo Cam Doorbell button press ring both existing built-in chimes. That’s why I linked the other topic that I did (above). I’m frequently impressed by the ingenuity within this community, like the solution that allows a single doorbell to actuate three chimes.
