An on-going issue. I have 8 Wyze cams (v3, v4, doorbell v2) and they all lose their connections many times throughout the day. I have a one-year old Deco Mesh System (installed by a network engineer) with a node in every room in my house. I have high-speed internet service. No camera is more than 8 feet away from a node. Still, the cameras lose connection – a lot.
I have a 7 year-old Ring Doorbell camera on my front porch that has NEVER lost its connection. Never.
I wish Wyze would disassemble a Ring camera and see what kind of antenna they use - and use it.
I can’t say this conclusively, but I do know a couple of other people who are having connectivity issues while using a Deco mesh system. After trying a lot of different things, they changed to a different router system and suddenly everything worked fine.
I don’t know if it was just a certain model, or if there’s something in the Deco programming protocols or what the conflict is between them and Wyze. And I have heard other people with Deco say that their stuff works great, so it’s definitely not all of them. This is why I can’t say conclusively that there is some kind of connectivity compatibility issue between Deco and Wyze, I can only say that I know of at least a couple of people who finally tried a different router and suddenly everything worked fine for them.
Honestly, it may be some kind of specific setting that causes the conflict too. I know for a lot of people if they turn on qos settings or prioritization of any kind that can cause connectivity issues. There are a whole bunch of other settings that can really mess with certain iot, chips and devices but not affect other kinds of devices at all negatively.
If I had to guess, there is probably some kind of setting in your router that you could modify so that it runs more smoothly with your Wyze devices.
If you haven’t already done so, maybe for starters, go into your router and assign a static fixed IP address to one or more of the cameras that keep losing connection. I do know of multiple cases where switching from dynamic to static addresses for certain devices that kept having connectivity issues resolved some of their issues And improved stability a lot.
Go to your Deco app and see if there’s a “Connection Preference” option to assign a specific device to a node. Make sure you are on the latest Deco app update and firmware.
