Morning Smoke

I was having my morning smoke when something crossed my driveway…

Just a red fox heading home after his night rounds.

We used to have rabbits roam the neighbourhood and one used to hang out in our backyard and snack on my wife’s flowers. Since the fox moved in haven’t seen the rabbits. Seen that fox more than once in a broad daylight but this is the first time on camera.

I have a guard fox pup that lounges and sleeps out front and rarely goes home. Keeps the front squirrel-free. :joy:

Not meaning to preach, but being an ex-smoker, you are causing your arteries to restrict by smoking. Your physique is similar to mine, and you probably eat meat which means you have plaque in your arteries.

This is one thing that happens when you don’t take care of your health.

Several years ago I was laying on the living room floor playing with our dog. I tried to pull myself up but had no strength. I called for my wife but my speech was slurred. The symptoms went away so I ignored it as a fluke. I had a doctor’s appointment the next week and mentioned it to him. He immediately sent me to get ultrasounds and found out one carotid artery was 80% restricted and the other was 90% restricted. I dodged a bullet and for a while I was in pity mode. Cardiologist said I was dang lucky because I could have had debilitating issues requiring 24/7 care, loss of mobility, etc…

They say the first sign of a stroke is a stroke.

@habib, my favorite part of this was the immediate retrieval of the phone to review the footage.

@TomG, not that it’s any of my business, but since you opened the door: Carotid endarterectomy?

Yes. Fortunately I never experienced any pain ever. Got a lot of people staring when I had the staples in.

I do eat meat, love my scotch, I am diabetic, have a high blood pressure and high cholesterol. To top it off I also have aneurysm aorta, it is 2cm wider than normal. My doctor tells me that I am a walking bomb. I also have a high stress job and taking care of my health is hard. I know it shouldn’t but it’s just who I am.

I appreciate your preaching though

My wife says that I am attached to the phone at the hip

@TomG, I’m glad you had a positive outcome. That’s a really cool procedure in the hands of a competent vascular surgeon.

@habib, I appreciate your honesty. I also appreciate the civil discourse and the sense of genuine respect for one another in a lot of the posts that I read here.

So essentially a teenager in the body of an older man. Got it.

I forgot to post this a couple of weeks ago. I had two of my neighbors ask me if my cameras captured the animal on my driveway.

I feel like I’m in good company. I’ll skip the smoke but will consider a Scotch at some point.

I gave up smoking over 15 years ago, but I do like to eat :cow2: :pig: :chicken: and drink good cold :beers: with a shot of Jamesons.
