Mesh routers overheating and disconnecting

Anyone have a similiar experience - once it overheats, the internet connection disappears until it cools down

There has been extensive discussions about the routers heat. I don’t remember where on the forum but I added rubber feet to raise them off of the surface they sit on. Others added fans.

@carverofchoice and @spamoni may have more detailed information on the fans.

Yea, the heatsink is near the bottom, I believe. I also had mine elevated and did not need a fan. I actually use square lego’s on each edge

My Router Pros never overheated, but the heat sync got pretty hot, so I pointed some fans on mine to help dissipate the heat anyway. Then later, I had a user that modified this router stand to be 2 layered to hold a computer fan underneath it:

Not sure why, but the 2 layer one was removed off thingiverse. I have a copy saved somewhere, but it’s for the pro version anyway.

Some people just set their router right on top of a fan like this:

But again, this is the first I’m ever hearing of the router having an issue from overheating. I was mostly doing that because I know that in general heat is not good for electronics functioning well and I wanted peak performance.
