Just got the Wyze V3 Pro today. Here is a link to my thoughts in another thread. We actually do get marked events of sorts. I am still playing with it but sadly no real sense of smoothly scrolling through the timeline. What are others first impressions?
I do not mind paying for it. They need money to add more capabilities and their cam devices are very price competitive. I Would be happy to pay more if they focused more programmers/developers on the cam & rules wish lists.
Hopefully a significant number of the Wyze team are actively working on Cams, sensors, and associated firmware/software/apps.
Camera activity indicated with playback timeline color
Paint the camera playback timeline in a different color for reagions that have motion. That way we can quickly scan over to sections of greater significance. Thanks!
I added comments on this thread in Feb 2021, nearly two years ago. At the time I had 9 Wyze cams protecting my property but since that time replaced them all with Eufy P24 Cams. These Eufy Cams have the capabilities that Wyze should have added to their cams long ago rather than come out with product after product unrelated to security cams.
My Eufy cams offer people or motion alerts just like Wyze but no Cam Plus required, the alerts come from the cams themselves, If I want more detail on an event I can view āplaybackā of the entire day with up to 10x fast forward. Every motion event is clearly marked in the timeline and you can playback the day by skipping from event to event automatically. There is even a āHome Security Reportā listed for each day where you can see an event image timeline for the day with the ability to press on any image and see the video for the event.
Why Wyze continues to ignore this important feature of a security cam is beyond me.
There has been headway made on this front, I wouldnāt say itās been ignored. The tag of this thread is āresearchingā which means time is being spent on the idea. Have you seen the new v3pros playback screen?
It would also be amazing if when you view a 12 second video snippet or photo still alert, that you can click a button and be taken directly to that spot in the playback.
I canāt believe this has been asked for since at least 2018!
On Continuous Recording, it is virtually impossible to find any motion detection event, especially when you donāt have a way to simply scroll through the hours of playback easily.
I have two other camera manufacturers and they both mark the desired motion detection with a different color.
My next-door neighbor had an incident that happened and asks me to look at my camera footage. He was out of town. I would have to look through 3 days of recordings, 30 seconds at a time!
Please Wyze, 4 years is too long for us to wait for you to fix this simple issue.
Good point. I was just thinking about my continuous recording that I am currently doing. Without some form of scrubbing there is little point in doing continuous recordingā¦
I do have similar challenges on my Nest cams but they do provide a timelapse ability to help find something, but it is not scrubbing.
With NestCam timelapse I can select a section of my previous 10 days of recording and I can set the length of the timelapse from 6 seconds to 2 minutes*. Then look at the timelapse (which does not have time stamp (arghh) ) and then try to narrow in on the incident of interest.
Typically on Nest if I really had to find something, I would download the section of video and do scrubbing with some level of fast forward with video software on my Mac.
I have not tried local scrubbing yet on Wyze stored data.
I went to Eufy Cameras, they have the timeline mark in playback. Microphone is better too.
I also tired of browsing through tons of 1-minute files from SD card. So I made a simple desktop app for a comfortable preview. It allows to scroll via all files in folder and choose high video acceleration. Timelapse recording option also available. Here is the design, it should be ready soon. Hope Iāll be able to post download links here without violating the forum rules. Let me know if you need it
That looks interesting.

I am sure we all would be interested in a better way to view(quickly) past continuous recordings.
If it works well, maybe Wyze could license it from you to provide to all of us.
I see no options to edit my previous post

Thanks @Seapup for the detailed explanation what I needed to do
Add some type of visual event indicator in event playback mode
In the playback mode for sd cards, there is no visual indicator on when events happened in the timeline, there is only a large scrub bar with dates and times.
As a user, I would like to be able to tell when events happened in my playback timeline.
In the new Wyze camera UI, this is implemented. This other existing wishlist topic may interest you:
this is in progress?

Any updates on marking events in SD card playback?
Agree. This would be very useful.
