I’m sorry for your poor experience. If you need assistance, please call yourself at 1 (844) WYZECAM. I cannot call for you as I cannot provide your account details. Kindly humor me and let me rephrase: If your problems are bugging you enough, you’ll call and try to see if they can fixed, because if you don’t want to, then are they really that bad? Again, Wyze is a small company and I’m sure they are doing everything in their power to provide the best experience possible, but they’re not as big as Apple or Google. They’re hiring and putting teams together to work on these very issues. I think for such an amazing sector they serve, it’s worth being patient.
I found a way to use Google Home to at least lock the Wyze Lock. There might be an easier way but I was just tinkering around and came up with this. Hopefully it helps some people. Again, the only thing it accomplishes is locking the door.
-
I set up a Wyze plug with nothing plugged into it and I named that plug “front door”. I then added this plug to Google Home and added it to a room in my house. Now with voice commands I can turn the plug named “front door” on and off.
-
In the Google Home app I went to “Routines” and created a new one.
2a) in “How to start” I selected “Voice command” as the starter. Then added all the ways I or my wife would ask Google Home how to lock the door.
2b) then under “This Routine will” I entered “Ask Wyze to turn on the front door” (this is to turn on the the plug that was set up in step 1)
2b) then i added a second command for this Routine. When adding the second command there is a long list to choose from. I checked the box “Adjust Home Devices” and then clicked on the arrow to the right. I used the drop down menu for the plug named “Front door” and changed it from “don’t change” to “turn off”. (The plug needs to be in the “off” position for this whole thing to work. I didn’t want to have to remember to give a voice command to turn the plug off every time I locked the door. This just runs the routine and then immediately turns the plug off so it is ready for the next time.)
2c) Save routine -
Next I went to the Wyze app where I have my plug and locked each set up and selected “Edit Rules” at the top.
3a) hitting the “+” button at the top right brought up a screen with “Create Rule” where I selected “Device Trigger”.
3b) Name it whatever you want.
3c) Under “when”, the trigger I used was my empty plug and selected “Turn on” from the list.
3d) Under “do”, the action I chose was my lock. After selecting the lock only one option is available “Locks”. I checked the box to the right.
So now when I ask Google Home to “Lock my front door”, Google home translates that to “Turn on front door” which then turns on a Wyze plug that has nothing plugged into it. The Wyze app Rules then determine that if that plug turns on it should lock my front door. Google Home then automatically and immediately turns the plug back off, because if it is already on it can not do the whole process allowing the whole chain of commands to be ready for the next time I lock the door. A long convoluted way to get my door locked using voice commands on Google Home… but it works. Would be easier if Wyze just integrated the lock in the first place.
I completely agree with others that there should be a more reliable way to integrate, but until the kinks are worked out, that sounds like a great idea!
Thanks for sharing!
…{Looking for applaud button for Brooksinman}…
Kinda sad when the community has to come up with a way to get the lock to work with google assistant before the manufacturer does…even after a year it was released and promised to work with google. And for that reason, I am done with Wyze. I can no longer in good conscious recommend this company. The cameras that were sold to work with google do not and buffer all the time, the lock, does not at all, and the V3 camera release debacle over the outdoor camera release really left a sour taste with me. Growing too big, too quick without support of older devices and promises made. My lock 1 year warranty expires in 1 month. I will be returning it for a FULL refund plus shipping before it expires and will gladly join a class action against them. This is how you loose loyal backers and customers.
I completely agree. Fraud is fraud, point blank period. If you promise me something I want it. I don’t understand what the relevance of a third world country has with a company who only ships in America.
@Jafo252 agree with everything you said
It perfectly fine to complain about Wyze in the Forum but please refrain from directly attacking in any way other Forum users.

@brooksinman Nice job at coming up with a work around. It is inconvenient that it requires an extra purchase to get working, but atleast it works!
I currently have something similar setup using a wyze bulb as my front porch light. I like having the light on any time the door is locked. Having it setup this way doesn’t require an extra device solely for the work around.
Please let us know when we’re able to use Google. My whole home is set up to use Google speakers. I have MS and I turn on my TV I turn on and off my lights now I was hoping to be able to lock and unlock my door without taking 5 minutes to get out of my chair
The WYZE lock has been out for a year with the tag (Google assistant coming soon). There have been no less than 8 new devices this year. Headphones, watch, v3 cam, scale, band, sprinkler, thermostat, doorbell.
WYZE does not seem to have their priorities as far as customer obligation is concerned. I will be reaching out to the nesthub directly (Google assistant’s smart home team) this week to get a clear view of WYZE product integrations.
It seems time to initiate a class action filing as the safety of our homes and services promised and not fulfilled has been compromised.
Communication has been poor effort has been minimal as viewed in their own forums.
Any more updates on this?
Contact your state’s attorney general and the better business bureau and submitt a report. Also contact Sen Warren’ comsumer protection agency at https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
That might lite a fire under their xsses
Just a thought: Isn’t going to the government because you can’t ask a robot in your kitchen to lock the front door a bit overkill? Yes, it’s wrong that Wyze doesn’t have this working by now, as promised, but I don’t have reason to believe that they are already working on it and are already doing the best they can; after all, you spent less then $90 on a product that most companies would charge over $240 for. Doesn’t that at least deserve a customer complaint to Wyze before going to the BBB, Consumer Finance Dept, and taking Wyze to court. All over a lock? Again, not saying that this isn’t wrong. It should have been working a year ago, when you bought the lock, but I feel like in a world where people are dying of a deadly virus all over the world and protesting supposed racism, etc, (not taking political sides, just examples) I really feel like a better start would be for everyone here who is complaining in an anonymous forum to be bold and all call Wyze together and complain so that Wyze knows their customers are serious about this issue instead of shocking them when they are called to court by the very customers they work hard every day to serve. Just my thoughts.
100% not talking to your smart home not a priority. But what less visible unfinished WYZE products do you have in your home that do cause a safety issue.
Some people bought the lock AND the key pad . Some people have special needs or are elderly and cannot work a lock as easily as others. They bought the lock and some backed the lock on the expectations that it would work with their home integration to make their life a little easier and maybe a little more normal. Some backed this product to support a new company. How long are we supposed to wait? 1 year? 3 years? 5 years? Before they complete what they said they would do? My warranty is expiring soon. I will be returning this and the key pad for a full refund plus shipping. I am no longer backing and supporting this company and will no longer recommend it. They are monitoring these as they have deleted past comments. I get weekly updates about new products and sales…but no one has chimed in here other than a few months ago saying by 3rd quarter of 2020. So yea, time is up. You punish companies who fail to deliver in the pocket book (besides poor reviews and recommendations). It that means a lawsuit is needed so they don’t do this again to other people, then so be it. Very disappointing…Wyze had so much potential.
They do not monitor much here, much of it is done by volunteer users, including deleting of comments that violate guidelines.
You’re more than right and again, I completely agree that this is wrong. Where I differ is that I know a company as small as Wyze is trying their best to live up to the expectations put on them as if they were a bigger company. As Wyze adjusts, they have hiccups, like anyone else. Anyone here remember MobileMe? Even Jobs himself admitted that it was a disaster. I’m sure Wyze knows and is working on it, but in the same way that MobileMe sucked really hard, Wyze Lock isn’t even that bad. I understand the disabled argument as well, and 100% agree, but Wyze Lock does still respond to lock and unlock prompts in the Wyze app, which if you have a Wyze (Smart) Lock, you likely have a smart phone. Yet again, I do completely agree that this is wrong, and it needs to be fixed. What I don’t agree with is threats to sue Wyze… Coming from users who use user names that make them anonymous so those statements cannot ever be traced. My question to people is this “If you say a Wyze employee in your local grocery store, would you walk up to them and tell them your first and last name, then proceed to tell them how terrible Wyze Lock is?” If your answer is yes, then the issue must actually be important to you, and if it is that important to you, then I would think that people would be bold enough to call Wyze, ask for the Engineering Department, and tell them that this is not ok and you expect better, or at least ask that note to be delivered to them. And I suggest that as many of you who have this concern do that. If you have an issue, make your voice heard. Americans disagreed with slavery and they went to war about it to make change. I don’t agree with war, and they tried many things before war, but nothing worked, so they went to war. Call Wyze and make it known that this isn’t ok and you want more. What you were promised. Because the north and the south didn’t argue about slavery on Twitter day and night until a deadline where all the tweets were counted up. No, they made their voice heard. I think that this early into the issue (where the most that has been accomplished here is anonymously saying how bad Wyze is) it would be plain wrong to go on about lawsuits. After all, think about Wyze’s mission. Its to being affordable technology to the masses. Why would you sue them instead of help them. Tell them to focus on this issue and remind Wyze of why they started this company, instead of sueing them out of business where there will be no one to bring affordable assistive technology to the masses. If enough upset customers here do that, you will likely be heard. If you want to be heard.
Please do not be offended by my comment; it was not meant to offend. I simply feel that there are more human ways to do things than trying to attack the other person. The above is my opinion and that only. I’m not asking anyone to agree; no one has to.
Thanks for idea. I ordered a pair of Wyze switches.
I am going to do the same thing as you to link another product (Scout Alarm via IFTTT) to one of the Wyze switches and then use the Wyze rules of switch ON/OFF to control the lock status as alarm is armed/disarmed.
Hey lp66879
If you bought a car from a small local dealer with the heater at a great price. The dealer promised you he’s going to fix. A year later it’s still not fixed and you complain. Nothing happens. What’s the next step you’ll be taking. I’m sure the BBB will be getting a call.
Don’t promise something you have little intentions of delivering.
Also I never said Wyze products aren’t a great deal for the rest of the complainers.
