Is Anyone Actually Satisfied With Their Wyze Camera?

Go for it.
But doing the same thing and expecting a different result doesn’t tend to work.
I learned to wait for unbiased reviews before buying.
Cheers

You do you and I will do me, If a Wyze product is good you will see I have promoted it.
And you will see that I have promoted the V2 cam, Pan Cam, and V3 cam.

On the V3 cam some are having issues with audio and I have posted in the post
No more dancing around it. Can you fix audio issues with Wyze v3 cameras? <— Click Blue lettering link to see my unbiased review.

And throughout the post I have done testing for others to review if you follow entire post from the start.

Cheers, I am down to my last 2 beers for the weekend
And I won’t go to store until Monday as I don’t feel like driving an hour and a half round trip…

It’s a real issue. Been around for years.

It affects customer satisfaction with Wyze core products: cameras.

Informed and thoughtful criticism (should always be) welcome. How else can things improve?

I like seeing that some of you like the Wyze cameras. I was a bit stunned by the number of complaints on the forum. So far, I am having some success with the WCO and V3 that I am trying out. I am not using the for security. I am using them to monitor bird feeders and other active wildlife sites in my yard. They have proven better than others I have tried because they have been rained on for several days and are still working. The battery life on the WCO is better than on the other small cameras I have tried. I an still having trouble with the app not downloading to the SD card. It downloads to the tablet internal memory, which fills up quickly. All of my settings are correct. The Wyze App is the ONLY one that will not default to the SD card. If I can work that out, I may get another WCO or two. I have also just got a couple of color bulbs to experiment with.

Am I satisfied. Yes.

Satisfied enough to stick around. The product meets my needs well enough.

Am I totally satisfied. No.

But they provide a good platform for critical feedback and they do respond quickly and substantially to issues their data (I guess) informs them are most important to their full customer base. I’ve seen them do it four or five times.

Are these cameras ‘disposables’, ‘cheap Chinese junk’? I have used only v2 cams and the original bulbs and plugs. I wouldn’t rate them as disposables. They are probably at least ‘middle quality’ sold at disposable prices.

To give some context to the term, Harbor Freight sells a lot of ‘disposable’ items.

And on the other end, while this is e-waste, it wasn’t designed (or priced) to be ‘disposable.’

I actually setup a friends property further in the forest with several of them as dummy cams to scare off intruders, even used UV resistant white Ethernet cables down trees in to dirt then nowhere for notice-ability.

There is no power there and he did not want to or could afford a solar setup and monthly cellular costs so I set him up with a dummy-cam system that has eliminated the intruders on his 40+ Acre property which had direct access to the South Fork of American River hence the intrusions.

I setup him up for free as he served his country well and is a Vietnam Veteran, so he got my e-waste…

The cameras look at gate, and parking above gate on road, and down road on other side of gate.

There is a plastic label on the 2 cam setup cable that reads

“If you’re reading this you are in my gun sights, F**k Around and Find Out” … LOL

Since those pictures he has added several “This Area is Under 24 hour Video Surveillance” signs in noticeable spots…

Eventually when I get some e-wasted solar panels, solar controller, batteries, DVR and a monitor it will be live to his home, just not on the cellular part for cloud recording and remote viewing while away. But he hardly leaves his property so it will be locally live and recorded on DVR in a few months or so,

I own 20 Wyze Cams. Each have their specialized benefits to me:

  • 8 V3’s (awesome video and great for outdoor use)
  • 7 V2’s (great audio, and the best with all the special AI stuff, black option which looks way better)
  • 1 Wyze Cam Outdoor (convenient and great for PIR preferred situations and traveling [hotels, etc], I even take it on hikes, etc and do continuous recording, time-lapse, etc)
  • 1 Cam Pan V1 (great to cover an entryway and follow the motion to capture everything more closely)
  • 1 Cam Pan V2 (better video, hardware, performance, etc)
  • 1 Video Doorbell (amazing video, size, face capture and reporting, VOIP, etc)
  • 1 Video Doorbell Pro (on Preorder - fish eye, night color, battery capable)

Total Owned/purchased Wyze Devices/products/services: 157 (255 if you count each Cam Plus license included in Cam Plus Unlimited separately), and since I have Cam Plus Unlimited, every one of my Cams has Cam Plus on it.

But I run everything using a good Mesh Router and I have Fiber with 1Gbps upload and download internet…so everything runs smoothly for me. If anyone is having a lot of connection issues, I’d first blame your internet provider and/or router/modem. As soon as I ditched Comcast things got A LOT better for me.

I will point out that I also have cams and smart devices from other companies as well. So my preference for Wyze isn’t blind. I’ve tried out and have several others and after testing and using others I think Wyze provides the most value so they are my primary camera and tech company because they’ve proven themselves to me time and again. I still use others because I believe in things like redundancy (Wyze has no control over whether AWS is having a problem for example, and so having another camera helps secure me in situations where Amazon has an outage).

I think the above pretty clearly shows that I am very satisfied with my Wyze Cameras, or I would’ve bailed a long time ago. I certainly wouldn’t have 20 cams with cam plus unlimited and over 100 other products from them if I was dissatisfied.

In general, With Wyze, I get to have a TON MORE fun toys with more innovative features all without frustrating my wife [much] over my addiction.

Since that is obviously some seriously old non-functional e-waste in those trees, wouldn’t it be easier to go to a thrift store, buy 10-15 dolls, chop them up, and hang them in the trees.

No one wants to run into someone that crazy and end up as their dinner.

I have never had a problem having mine go directly to the SD card I have one in the base station and one in the camera. I don’t recall even have fun to do anything in settings it would just record are you using cam Plus?

Go Blow Your @horn

If you read the entire post at the bottom you would see they are functional cameras just 360p and will be online locally in a few months.

It serves the Vietnam Veterans needs and was donated and installed for FREE

Once I attain some more WORKING e-waste solar panels, solar controller, batteries, DVR, and monitor the Veteran that served our country will be a happy man…

Feel free to blow your @horn if you like, but I appreciate our countries Veterans and made him happy :exclamation:

I read that post and all the other posts. And as you said they are not functioning.

If you read the entire post at the bottom you would see they are functional cameras just 360p and will be** online locally in a few months

[Mod Edit]

Not functioning NOW because they currently have no power or comms YET…

[Mod Edit]

These were working when pulled from my property, and 98% of e-waste I get off job sites is usable and working.

I did NOT say the were broken or not functioning due to damage, they work but are only 360p resolution hence I called them horrible cameras even though they do work and costed around $300 each.

And will be working for my friend once power and additional equipment is in place…

Hey @KayTel

For perspective, though, Wyze has over 6 million customers now (per an email I received last month.)

And this forum has ‘only’ about 100K members.

According to my SO (who does the math) that works out to something like 1.5 percent of the total.

And the loudmouths among that minority (I’m looking at you, @Antonius  ) are quite active and may skew the perception even more.

This is a pretty cool thread:

with a range of responses from community members with different backgrounds and perspectives. A la carte, you can choose what suits ya.

It’ll be interesting to hear your assessment of the outdoor cam (which has an early lead in the Worst cam category) as your experience builds. Folks here love animals so if you’re inclined feel free to post a few, 'twould be cool!
