Introducing Wyze Battery Cam Pro - 8/1/2023

This issue has been resolved with the app released 8/8/23
on another device that is not yet updated to this version it is still an issue

Agreed! The 8/8/23 app release fixes the setup issues on my Pixel 6 Pro running Android 13.

Hey guys, for me the live steam never loads automatically, I always have to click on Play.
Additionally, it seems like it takes a long time for the video to appear when I click on Play (6-10 seconds). I have Power Saving Mode turned OFF. IOS version 2.44.1 (1). Firmware 1.3.16.1420. Am I missing something?

Already noted above:

Thank you. Is the plan to implement auto streaming via software update in the future? If not Iā€™m not clear on what the power saving mode toggle really does.

Yes, that is the purpose of the Power Saving Mode toggleā€¦ to automatically stream when toggled off. It appears to be a bug when toggled off and Battery Cam Pro is in a cam group.

Thank you. How about the delay in loading the live streamā€¦when I click on Play or tap on the camera. Usually 5-12 seconds. Sometimes it says the device is offline but when I click on refresh it works. Happening on both my iPhone 13 and my Samsung Galaxy 23.

I experience the delay also. Hopefully, Wyze can tweak something to decrease the load time.

I think thatā€™s due to the camera waking up.

Probably, but itā€™s slower to wake up than WCO v1/v2. :pensive:

I got the camera hooked up to the Wyze solar panel and the sun is shining on the panel. Should there be a visual indication that the camera is charging? All I see is the battery indicator but no lightning bolt symbol or similar.

This was actually covered in the AMA and I am not sure we can tweak to speed it up more.

It takes about 7 seconds to receive the first frame. This is because the camera canā€™t pre-authenticate a livestream connection. That is usually done on base stations due to the camera entering a power-saving sleep mode when the stream is not being viewed. This makes the livestream take 1-2 seconds longer to receive the first frame compared to our Wyze Cam Outdoor

Is there any way to get the camera to NOT go into a battery saving sleep mode, like your non-battery powered cameras? Say, if youā€™re connected to a solar panel or other USB power source and battery saving isnā€™t that critical?

To answer my own question, it looks like the BCP does not show any indication when itā€™s being charged, by solar at least. Had it hooked up to the solar panel for a few hours and it went from 91% to 100% but never showed a charging symbol.

I also use the solar panel on my 2. They donā€™t show them charging but youā€™ll see it go up.
I also turned off the power saving and my cams do stream. But there is a hit to the battery. The solar panel does get it back up to full though.

I just looked to see how fast they load. One connects in about 5 seconds. The other takes almost 12. But thereā€™s a network error on the second one, so it adds to the time. I might reset that one and see if it makes it better. This is with the power saver off. HTH

The camera (I believe) will not go into stand-by if plugged in to power (not solar), I have not done this to actually test that.

Thanks! If thatā€™s the case it would be nice to extend this functionality to solar at the userā€™s discretion.

I agree with Resist re the wording. I thought this meant that BatCamPro had even better night time vision than a V3 and it does not. I have to turn on the IR lights to get a gray scene, just like with a V3.

Iā€™m probably returning my BatCamPro because of this, plus the red IR illuminators that come on upon motion detection, thus giving away the cameras location to perps (the built-in white LED makes it even more obvious**), poor wifi range***, and last but not least, battery life. (31% to 19% in 2 days with very little activity or watching)

BTW, on my V3s, I use the ā€œnearā€ infrared lighting, so itā€™s invisible to perps, and it illuminates my outdoor scene just fine, even beyond 30ft. The BatCamPro has no ā€œnearā€ infrared lighting. Bummer.

No wait, another reason for returningā€¦ no Cam Plus Lite.****
Plus the slow load time.

** yes, I disabled the white LED light.
*** I have a number of V3s that are over 50ft away from the nearest AP, one is inside a metal bldg !
**** I went to enable the free 14 day trial of Cam Plus and to my surprise, it listed my wifeā€™s email address and her paypal as payment method. WTH?!!! I see that CP goes thru GooglePay and you have to go thru that to cancel after 14 days. I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH GOOGLE or GOOGLEPAY. Yet another reason why this is all in a box going back to Wyze TODAY.

According to the Camera Status Light Guide there should be a battery level indicator light on the camera, but plugging it in shows nothing. Only see a light indicator on the battery when itā€™s removed from the camera and plugged in. Is the Quick Start Guide Wrong or is my Camera defective? Because seems like the battery is not charging while in the camera.
