Introducing Wyze Battery Cam Pro - 8/1/2023

and unfortunately… no tablet here.

Curious, @mvb. The solar panel that you received, was the solar panel face smooth or rippled in texture?

Currently the only work around is to use a non-Pixel device. We are still trying to resolve the issue, it seems to affect BLE with Pixel devices.

I have a Pixel 5 and I can confirm that Pixel devices with Pixel 5 and newer are known to have problems with Bluetooth pairing for some reason, and I don’t mean with Wyze, but with lots of things. I’ve been following this for sometime and this became excessively true as of January of this year when lots of major publications started talking about it in articles. There are lots of reports of difficulty pairing or connecting with some Bluetooth devices, including cars and smart home devices. Sometimes frequent disconnects or drops in connection or audio quality, interference or conflicts with other WiFi or Bluetooth devices or networks, incompatibility issues and bugs with some Bluetooth apps and devices, especially any that are not specifically optimized for Android 12+ (but not limited to those).

Some things that sometimes help include Turning off “Device Utilization” on the Pixel phone when it is interfering with the setup process of a Bluetooth device. Try the following:

  • Go to settings
  • Network & Internet
  • Mobile Network
  • Device Utilization - toggle it off
  • Then restart the phone and try to set up the Bluetooth device again.

Then consider possibly turning Device Utilization back on again afterward.

If someone with a Pixel phone having problems with this tries the above, and it fixes it for you, PLEASE report back so we can let others know too. @Earl.Automation if you try it, please let us know.

@WyzeJasonJ tagging you specifically about this because I just want to make sure you’re aware of the above information since this is a common issue for some people with some of the newer Pixel phones (not just with Wyze). Some of us have been complaining to Google about it all year long…but they’re too big to care. It might also be something your team could try, and then use the above information to test a workaround that doesn’t require disabling the Device Utilization tool and rebooting. I figure it can’t hurt to share.

It has the smooth face like the first panels I bought. I verified that by looking a couple of panels currently in use. I was also sent a picture of the new panel from another Wyze user. His bundle order came with the newer panel.

I would love for someone to be able to confirm this works, if it does it could help us figure something out or at least have a workaround until we do. I will pass it up to the team as an option but a confirmation that it worked for someone would be even better.

Yes, I see the same on my Android devices. Haven’t checked iOS/iPadOS yet.

Just to clarify, do you mean Pixel 6 Pro? It was my understanding that Google Canceled the 5 Pro and never launched it. Or were you beta-testing this canceled model or something? Just curious.

Is everyone else with this problem using the Android 14 Beta? I’m using a Pixel phone, but I’m using Android 13 production and haven’t noticed any Bluetooth pairing issues yet.

Just trying to help find a pattern in what the difference could be

No. I am running Android 13 production on my Pixel 6 Pro and have this issue pairing with both the WBCPro and the Floodlight Pro. Using a different Android device works for me.

Sorry… Yes… Pixel 5.

My wife has Android 13 (no beta) on her Pixel 5 and it still doesn’t work. Normal Wyze app too… no beta.

No luck for me
Android 13
Pixel 7 Pro

Let us know if a support log, or any other troubleshooting would be helpful.

Would be great if we could just put an SD card in the device with a config file in it to get the device on Wifi and/or connected to our Wyze account while you all work on troubleshooting the BLE issue.

Not sure if the SD card not useable is for video storage purposes or not accessible from the device at all.

Re: Tiny Cam support for the Wyze Battery Cam Pro:

From Tinycam co-owner Alexey Vasilyev:

Battery Cam Pro support added into 17.0.4 version.

Still can’t pair the battery pro even after today’s update. OnePlus pro 10 on android 13.

Can you verify the exact app version, and send me in an app log?

Sent pm. Thanks

I just want to add that it was not working for me earlier today. I updated the Wyze app, and now it works. Paired two Battery Cam Pros. PIXEL FOLD.
