If i buy used V3, WILL I GET CAM LITE?

I have a killer 16 camera HikVision system but it needs $500 of electricity a yesr.

Soooo…alternate plan, run two systems. WYZE all the time and only turn on the HikVision when we leave the house.

I have 5 V3 and a V4. I want to add 4-5 more V3s by buying them in the marketplace.

The question is, will is still get CamLite if the cameras were registered in another system? On paper i should because when i move to the new house i will have a different IP, but you never know.

Does anyone have direct experience with buying or getting old V3 and then still enabling/getting CamLite on your system?

Only if that person gives you their account and login info.

It is not the cameras that are grandfathered in, only the account.

Unless you already have Cam Plus Lite, in which case yes, factory reset the cams when you get them and they should register to your account and let you add them fine, can’t see why they wouldn’t. I can’t say 100% since I haven’t tried it but I haven’t seen anything that suggests a cam is forever tied to another account, in fact many have complained that it is too easy to transfer them to another account.

If only the account is grandfathered, then buying used or even “new” V3 is useless.

Funny thing is i bought 3 V3 two Xmas ago and they registered.

Oh well…there goes the idea of 8 V3 working at the same time.

If you do not have Cam Plus Lite, then I agree that buying v3s is useless. The v4 is better and cheaper.

If you have a Cam Plus Lite account (which it seems you might based on saying you have 3 that “registered”) then you should be able to add more v3s to it, whether new or used.

Wait…I’m confused…

Right now i get notifications AND 12 seconds of video every five minutes for all the V3s I have.

Can i add more V3 to that account?

I’m really mystified with the fascination with plus lite. Is the possible loss of clips in between those 5 minutes not important to you? Not saying you should subscribe, but why not just install SD cards, and not miss any events?

Yes, if you are getting 12 second clips, you have Cam Plus Lite. It has been posted here that you can add an unlimited number of supported cams (v3 and earlier) to CPL. Once you’ve factory reset them and set them up on your account, if it doesn’t ask during setup, just go into your subscriptions and check them off.

As stated above, Cam Plus Lite is done at the account level. If you already have it then you can always add more V3 cams and have them use it (as of this writing).

It’s irrelevant where you get those cams from.
It’s irrelevant if you move addresses.

All that matters is that your account already has Cam Plus Lite before now.

New accounts can’t sign up for Cam Plus Lite anymore. It’s a grandfathered plan. But any account that already has it can add as many eligible camera models (like new or used V3 cams) to it as they want.

Well, we’ll see about that…

Fair point and good clarification. I didn’t really mean “always” definitively as in “literally forever” as much as the figure of speech about how things currently are at this moment until policy changes otherwise.

That’s crazy, does the Hikvisions heat your home too?

I have over 40 cameras of multiple brands, 3 cell routers, 3 VOIP lines, and 4 Mesh Access points all powered on same circuit which draws 92 watts. On PG&E electric which is one of the highest priced electricity in the nation. I use roughly $280 a year on electricity for all of the above.

92 watts times 24 hours equals 2.2 KWh of energy a day, 803 KWh a year.

803KWh x $0.35 per Kwh = $281.05 per year approx.

$500 a year seems a bit overstated

On the HikVision the nvr and 16 cameras do use a lot of electricuty. 174 w/hr to be exact.

174 watts x 8760 hours equals 1524 x.30cents a kw

$457

Thanks guys…so now I’m going to add 4-5 more.

4-5 outside always on

4-5 inside on smart plugs so we can turn them only AFTER we leave the house. HikVision on smartplug too…after we leave the house.

I do have 128gb micros in them but the 12 seconds is available in a few seconds vs using the card.

I have cam unlimited and SD cards. Accessing the SD clips is just as fast as accessing the cloud clips.

Maybe you mean the cloud clips have better playback speeds and that’s true (and that’s on Wyze), but access times are comparatively the same.

I have had my Cam Plus Lite account since 2022. I bought an additional v3 camera last September and it is working fine on my Lite account. I think you should be fine adding any Lite compatible cameras to your existing Cam Plus Lite account. See the middle of this link for a list of compatable Lite cameras.

I recently purchased four new V3s and added them to Lite without any problems.

To answer my own thread…3 new one just got added and 3 more coming today. No problem.

One can actually go to account..services..cam lite to see which cameras are hooked up.

Now I’m overdosing on cameras…lol

Interesting side event…i didn’t realize Amazon delivers at 5 AM. I have a motion detector that puts the front lights on as well as a very muffled horn if someone steps on the stairs. He drops the package and gets startled by the horn/lights, caught by two WYZE cameras.

EVERYTHING worked as designed.

Why is this not posted to the Captured on Wyze category?

Sometimes I’m offered overnight delivery. It is scheduled for 4am-7am. I have had a delivery at 4:30am (yes, all my front yard cams barked).

I have also seen a 7-10pm schedule. I think it arrived at 9:30pm.

I have never seen Amazon schedule anything after 10pm or before 4am.

All this fast delivery brings out the “impulse buy” out of me🤣.
