What cameras are compatible with Cam Plus Lite?

I just replaced an older Outdoor Cam that was used with Cam Plus Lite subscription. I have the V4 and the OG cameras. Both are not compatible with Cam-Plus Lite. Are any of the cameras compatible with Lite? Ironically it says I can have an unlimited number of cameras with this subscription, none of their cameras are compatible!

V3 would be best to use with CP lite.

What cameras are compatible with Cam Plus Lite?

Wyze Cam v1, v2 and v3, Wyze Cam Pan v1 and v2, and Wyze Cam Outdoor v1 and v2.

Cam Lite was retired years ago, but existing users were allowed to keep it, with the caveat that cameras released after the v3 will not work with it.

You can still add unlimited compatible cameras to it, so if you buy v3s you’ll be able to add them.

I have been using Wyze Cam v3 cameras on Cam Plus Lite for 3.5 years. I believe the v3 was one of the last released Wyze cameras to be compatible with Lite. Here is a link if you are looking to buy.

It was exactly the last camera to support it. Or I believe more accurately, they stopped cam plus lite sometime after the v3 was released and said existing users and currently released cams would be supported, but all future cams would not, and no new accounts can be set up.

I mean the fact that they still allow unlimited “legacy” cams like the v3 to be added is something to give them credit for, they could have said only currently associated cams, or limited people to the number they already had (allowing replacement but not additions) etc.

I was too late to the game to even have the option, while I guess person detection might be useful, honestly I’m not sure I’d want to rely on it. I have my cams placed and detection zones set in a way that I rarely get notifications that I don’t want. But every situation is different obviously.

Person detection I have found very reliable on Cam Plus Lite even with the 5-minute Cool-Down period.

Nothing exciting ever happens in my neighborhood, so CPL fits my needs as a security hobby.

Plus I do have SD cards in all of my v3 cameras set to Continuous Recording.

Ditto, it also cuts down on unwanted notifications of all motion events.

That’s exactly what I want for my unexciting neighborhood.

Yeah, I’m not saying it is useless, but in my case I’d rather have some very specific detection zones that alert me to any and all motion.

Sure every now and the a squirrel/rabbit/bird sets it off but I don’t mind seeing pictures of them. Certain times of the year when the sun is at a certain angle and it is a windy day there can be a shadow on my front steps moving around and that’ll cause a few false notifications, but in general, I’ve got it narrowed down pretty well.

In my case my area is so busy that if I had person detection and a larger detection zone I’d get constant alerts to people walking by.

I can see it as potentially useful but in my case since I’m not eligible, it isn’t worth the cost to me. But if OP has cam plus lite and finds the feature useful, then the extra cost of the v3 is probably worth it (but of course you lose some features of the newer cams that way too).

Mine is fairly quiet and unexciting as well, however looking through my saved pictures and vids, I have a group of 5 deer, several coyotes, red fox, couple turkeys, various birds, the construction of an elaborate spider web etc. It isn’t like I review all my video so I would have missed those things if person detection was on (and other motion off). That’s just stuff that has triggered my detection zone (front walkway and steps). Probably lots of other stuff happens outside of that that I record but don’t actually see. I even have a huge tree branch falling on a car, but that one was outside the detection zone, had to go find that one manually. I get rabbits, possum, racoons, and skunks too but I don’t save those, they’re all common sightings around here. So are turkeys, but the poses they were in for the still frames were too funny not to keep.

I will say the deer image one morning was probably the most surprising one I’ve seen to date. They’re near here in the woods, but walking up my fairly urban street and across my lawn/walkway is unexpected.

The porch pirates and unlocked car searchers are all wearing hoods/hats/covid masks these days, not even sure if person detection would consider them people or not.

Porch pirates can strike anywhere. My wife and I were out most of Tuesday. Her package sat on our porch mat for over 9 hours until we got home.

So far it is not an issue in my neighborhood (the night time unlocked car people do hit from time to time, but nobody is brazen enough to do daytime stuff yet).

But when I got my Wyze cams, I was noticing more reports on our City’s Facebook page closer to my side of town, so figured it was only a matter of time. Of course with them being fairly well covered up in the videos I have seen, the cams won’t really help much with identifying them anyway. I was more interested in knowing when a package is delivered so it can be brought in, and also in the bit of deterrence factor.

One of my OGs is literally there just for package detection/alerts. I do not use Cam Plus for this, I just mounted it up high looking downward, and have a detection zone of only my front steps. So a notification means that either someone is at the door, or a package has been dropped off, both of which are things I want to know. Comes in handy not only for theft avoidance, but also because the delivery people love to leave packages right under the drip line on rainy days.

I have a second cam (previously OG, now v4) mounted down at doorbell level that does not send notifications, but I can go view that video if I want to see more detail (face instead of top of head etc). It also records the cars parked in front of the house. I actually have a total of 4 cams on the front of my house, OG, OG-Tel, v4, Panv3. A bit overkill, but the setup has proven to be quite useful.

I know folks are talking about the Free Tier stuff (CP-lite) but just wanted to chime in with my $.02. I have been a user since 2018 of the Wyze Ecosystem. I’ve gone through all the things they’ve introduced in terms of A.I. and detection. I made zones and turned off alerting or setup elaborate schemes for times of day to be alerted or turn off a particular kind of detection. I’ve gotten the 80 alerts from a bush blowing in the wind or 75 cars going down my road… To the point where the notification is useless so I turn it off and just review a day or more later? Basically defeating the cameras’ purpose.

Enter… the NBT Filter (with Descriptive Alerts)… I can’t wait until they give this to the Cam Plus members. This is the best thing Wyze has come up with in terms of fixing ALL the notification / motion alerts that are nothing. My outdoor cameras have notifications on ALL the time. I only see the important ones (that seem to be People and “brand” vehicles (Amazon, Mailmain, police).

Animal notifications are not blowing up my phone… no leaves or moving bushes… no notice of 10 cars passing by… It is pretty revolutionary IMO. Plus, when I do get an alert, the Descriptive Alert REALLY makes it nice to see what happened without looking beyond the alert.

I know it’s still pricey, but totally worth it if you have a lot of cameras that you are trying to monitor a lot of busy spots but don’t need all the extra noise.

It would appear it is only going to be available to the top tier much more expensive subscription, but I guess we can hope.

This really did work surprisingly well (though, of course, imperfectly) when I had an opportunity to test it, and I imagine it’s become more refined with time. Just this morning I heard a news item about how Ring is going to start showing “contextual descriptions for the action on camera”, and I thought, “Wyze has been doing this for months!” It’s kind of like how Wyze was ahead of Ring on AI Video Search, too.

I get that it’s not “free” like Cam Plus Lite, but those are features that really seem to be meeting some users’ needs, and I appreciate that the top-tier subscribers are willing to pay for that kind of innovation.
