CAM Plus Lite non-transferable?

I was an early adopter of Wyze and bought 2X Wyze Cam Pan V1’s, and one Wyze Cam V2. I always had 12 seconds of video preview with all 3 of those cameras using CAM Plus Lite, because I was promised it was going to be free to me from Wyze. Recently I decided to upgrade and bought 2 Wyze Cam V3’s, a Wyze Cam OG and a Wyze Cam V3. Of the 4 new Wyze cams I bought; the OG is the only one shown as compatible with my Wyze Cam Plus Lite subscription. Why is that? Why have I been blocked from transferring my subscription to my new cameras? If I knew that was going to happen, I would have stuck with my old cams or chose some other brand. As a long-time user who’s spend hundreds of dollars on these cams, I’m seriously disappointed with this treatment from Wyze. I want my free 12 preview back!

If you originally set up Cam Plus Lite for three cameras you should be able to use two of the V3 cams also since they are compatible with CP lite. Have you looked at your account services on the WYZE web site to see what is listed for your services (Cam Plus Lite) ?
If you originally set up for 3 cams you can’t just add more cams.

What cameras are compatible with Cam Plus Lite?

Wyze Cam v1, v2 and v3, Wyze Cam Pan v1 and v2, and Wyze Cam Outdoor v1 and v2.
Services says that the OG is not compatible with the OG?

OK, so it’s my Wyze CAM v3 and not the OG, doesn’t matter. Point is, you took it away so you could charge me a fee to get it back, not because of some technical issue, I don’t think that’s fair or wise. I have other cameras like an AOSU door cam that provides 12 seconds of video preview at no charge. As a result of this new policy and the hassle it creates for me when sorting my many events, I won’t be buying anymore Wyze products.

@Antonius doesn’t work for Wyze and didn’t take anything away.

Your Lite subscription is still valid on those old cams and can even be used with your v3 cams that you just bought. It is not available with cams released after January 1, 2023.

It would work, or it wouldn’t work even if you paid. It’s just been disabled from working for free so Wyze can charge a fee for something everyone else gives you for free. Doesn’t matter, I’m not paying so I’m stuck with their impaired app, we all are.

First of all, that isn’t even close to true.

Cams released prior to January 1st 2003 can be added to Cam Plus Lite as long as you had an account and devices before they stopped accepting new accounts. They communicated long ago that new CPL accounts would not be allowed that new cams would not support it. They did NOT take it away from existing users/cams, they’ve kept their promise on that.

Cams released after that date you must pay for regular Cam Plus if you want those extra features, they cannot be added to Cam Plus Lite. Could they have made them work with it? Sure. But they’ve been very transparent in saying they are selling the new cameras at or below cost in hopes it will lead to people subscribing to the paid services.

All of the companies have some sort of pay model, heck Blink and RIng you pay a lot for the hardware AND a lot for the service. Others you may pay more upfront for the cam but get some AI or cloud clips included (who knows, they may charge for them at some point too, it is the way of the world now). Others do not even have the option to get those features.

You have to look at the cam, video quality, features, and what you want included in the price, then decide which brand is best for you. Since I didn’t need or want cloud service, I chose Wyze as it had the best video quality in this price range that I found. Your priorities may be different and you should choose based on those.
