I would love to get my money back from these complete junk cameras, everytime the cameras lose wifi it takes hours to get them to resync, im done. Anything that takes this much effort is not worth it. If anyone has any suggestions on better camera systems Im all ears, but these POS are gone !!!
What makes you think that new cameras will perform any better when they loose WiFi? Once you fix your WiFI you’d be surprised how well these cameras work.
Have never faced issues with Wyze cams for Wifi, been using since 2018. These run solid. Though have faced other issues v1 cams and replaced those with v2/v3.
It’s totally true that you might have a better experience with another company (and I’ll include some options), but it is not necessarily correct to assume that Wyze is the primary problem. I used to have problems like you’re describing, then I made some adjustments and haven’t had any issues in years (I’ll post a link of the things I found that made a difference).
Here’s an interesting statement from a Wyze VP about connectivity:
Or another one from one of the Wyze Devs:
For myself, I have over 50 Wyze cameras on my Wi-Fi without connectivity problems since I fixed my network.
So if someone is having a lot of connectivity issues but lots of others are not having connectivity issues with the exact same devices, you have to ask… What’s the difference? If the devices are the same, and they’re working fine for others, then that’s not the difference. So what else is?
I once made a list of a bunch of things I found that made a difference. You may consider looking into some of those.
Having said that, different things may work better with different network environments or brands. So some similar things other people try are:
Eufy, TP-Link, Reolink, Blink, Yolink, Xiaomi/Aqara, and many that are way more expensive. You can try some of those, but they all have people in their forums complaining about connectivity and bugs too. I have cameras from most of those companies too. I definitely wouldn’t say any of then are better than Wyze though. That’s why I only use them as backup redundancy (ie: AWS outages, local recording RTSP, etc) while Wyze remains my primary camera company. But one of them absolutely could work better for your router’s particular situation. On the other hand, they might have the same problem if your issues are related to anything in that post I linked to.
