How waterproof exactly are V4 camera's?

Hi,

I have mounted two cameras on my roof. How waterproof exactly are v4’s?
They’re not under eve’s or anything, and my concern is that one is angled straight down and thus exposing it’s speaker holes to the sky.

Wadda we think? Should i put tape over the holes in the back maybe?

Also, I bought 12 metre long cables that are just laid on the roof. It’s 5 floors up and not visible, but not sure how they’re going to fare with the sun and other elements. Has anyone put them into conduit or anything (garden hose?) to protect the cabling from heat/cold/UV?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve had some sitting on top of a metal fence, totally exposed to heat, and strong storms snowing and raining on it on all sides, buried in snow, the speaker holes get blasted by a sprinkler that shoots a stream of water back and forth.

I didn’t add any extra insulation. I’m using the Wyze Outdoor Power adapter for it.

I think these are pretty safe in regular weather. Just don’t stick it inside a swimming pool or something.

All depends on the random quality of the lens on camera, Wyze cam lenses are know to eventually lose the seal and suck in moisture.

Doesn’t happen to all, but definitely happens to many.

I haven’t seen that with V4s yet. And on the v3s it usually happened to those that have the lens pointed upward where they were but with both direct sunlight and rain/snow on the lens seal. This user indicated the lens faces tilted downward anyway.

The other issue was when hung upside down, sometimes too much weather abuse on the SD card seal leaked over time.

Again, I haven’t seen any if that with V4s yet though.

No issues with mine exposed to the elements so far. I’ve had OGs (similar design to v4) and Panv3s out in the elements for almost 2 years. With the exception of a Panv3 that was mounted upside down, none have had any problems.
