How change download location for recordings iOS

Hi , is there a way to change the download location for recordings (Timelapse ) so , under IOS, it doesn’t automatically add the file to the iPhoto library ??

Thanks
R

If you are looking at recordings by Album, the Wyze recordings are always saved in the “Wyze” folder. No way to change that, but at least it keeps all Wyze recordings separate in one place. From there it also shows up in the Recents with all other recordings & pictures.

You can move them to any folder you like, including one you make up. I have one named “Movies” that is for movies I have made from multiple camera videos with iMovie. Like when a suspicious person moves from camera to camera, if noteworthy I make an overall movie of that activity.

I am having troubles following your suggestions.
when I look at my IOS wyze app , the Timelapse recordings show up under Album of the individual camera , they have a downward pointing arrow which when clicked starts a download of the file from the cameras SD card, once the download has finished it copies the file automatically into the IOS iPhoto Library on the iOS device. so I assume it downloads it to a temp location and then moves it to the iPhone folder . it’s the last action that I would like to change to a different location or stop it all together and show me where the temporary download location is

There is no temporary download location; the Wyze app downloads the video or picture directly to the Wyze folder in the iOS photo library.

When you call up the iOS Photos app after the video or picture download with the Wyze app, if you look at the bottom of the screen you will see “Library”, “For You”, “Albums”, etc. At least I do when using the iOS Photos app with iOS 17.5.1.

“Library” is every picture, video, etc from all sources that have been recorded to your iOS device. “Albums” on the other hand are things saved to separate folders.

If you swipe “Albums” once you are in it, you will see an album named “Wyze”. Enter that, and you only see videos and pictures saved from the Wyze app.

thanks Mate for the explanation , yes I have no issues finding the recording within the iPhoto library. i was hoping to be able to change this location. I use an external library for my iPhotos and it would be easier not having to moutn the external drive just to download some recordings…, and no copying direct from the sd card isn’t feasible either as the cameras out of easy reach

never mind , another disappointment , maybe ver. 3 of the Wyze app will allow it

Only thing you can do ATM is manually copy the videos and pictures to the external device yourself. However, if you want to highlight the issue on the 3.0 app Beta, it is best to participate in it:

where would it put the files if the iPhoto library hasn’t been mounted or will it just fail ?

I guess I don’t know of a way to not mount an iOS photo library on an iOS device. Are you using something else, like an emulation or jailbrake? If so, maybe you could mount another service and call it whatever Apple calls their file location?

But to answer your question, I think it would fail. I’m sure there is no code there to deal with not finding something they always expect to be there.

I’m running the wyze app on an m1 MacBook , hence the option to mount the library where ever you want it .

Wyze looks at the M-series computers as emulators, so I doubt there is any extra code for them. They look to emulators to emulate the environment as well as an original device would.

I would recommend downloading the video using an actual device, then AirDrop it to your MacBook. You can AirDrop many videos at once if you need to.

I know you are trying to give solution , but really they are only workarounds for missing functionality,
why isn’t there a Mac OS app , for other manufactures this seems to be the normal ?

Wyze tries to be a low-cost provider, and as such they must restrict their development teams to only a few platforms. In this case iOS and Android, and even on Android, only pure incarnations, not things like Amazon’s Android.
