Has any of Wyze scales moved from Google Fit to Health Connect? I have an older model and the app still says Sync Data to 3rd Party Apps – Google Fit and Fitbit.
Have you read this topic?
I did not, so I just read it. I see nothing about if and when it will be switching to Health Connect. The fact that the Ultra scale list in a picture that it will support Health Connect doesn’t mean much. When I bought the original scale it had an image that it would support Samsung Health. Here we are 5 plus years later and guess what never happened.
Yeah, their messaging isn’t the best:
I don’t have that particular model (I’m still using Scale S), so I can’t speak directly to the state of any third-party integrations with newer scales, but I believe @carverofchoice actually uses it. If it’s not working as advertised, though, then this wouldn’t be the first case of Wyze over-promising a feature that wasn’t actually available at launch. ![]()
Yes, my Google/Android Health Connect is syncing with the newest Wyze Scale Ultra Bodyscan. It’s syncing the following days so far:
- Basal Metabolic Rate
- Body Fat
- Body Water Mass
- Bone Mass
- Lean Body Mass
- Weight
Those are the only measurements Health Connect currently supports from the Wyze Scales.
Note that the Wyze Scales will only sync to Health connect if you have the scale open and connected by Bluetooth in the Wyze App when you do the measurement. For some reason it won’t connect the data remotely through the Wi-Fi method (which is actually really frustrating for me because I love the convenience of the Wi-Fi connection so I don’t have to open the app on my phone, but I desperately want the data in health connect so the Wi-Fi is almost entirely worthless to me again.
Ugh.
Anyway, to connect Health Connect you just go into the settings for the scale and click on “Authorize 3rd Party Apps” then if you have an Android phone new enough to support Health Connect one of the options should be “Health Connect”.
I have not tried it with other scale models, just the Ultra Bodyscan, and it works on that.
I particularly like that I can then sync all that data to other apps like Home Assistant so I can now view it in charts on custom dashboards and even do some custom routines/automations based on the data.
That’s a bummer. Seems like Wyze should be able to do a server-to-server communication to send this to Google Health Connect on the backend since the “Ultra” scales have Wi-Fi connectivity. Having this all go through the phone like an app-to-app thing seems inefficient. ![]()
Yeah, it’s my understanding that other brands have been able to do this, so Wyze “can” do it. I’m not sure why they didn’t though. It’s probably more complicated.
I recently got the Wyze Scale Ultra and ran into the same issue. There’s a workaround if you only care about weight data, you can sync your data to Fitbit and then have Fitbit sync to Health Connect. This has worked seamlessly for me, the past 2 days, without having to open the Wyze or Fitbit app (to be safe, i turned off battery optimization for both apps).
The downside is that Fitbit will only write weight data to Health Connect, which is a known limitation of Fitbit. You can see your body fat in the Fitbit app but it won’t make it to Health Connect.
Good point. I do that as well with Fitbit. It’s actually the only reason I even have the Fitbit app. I don’t even have any Fitbit products at all.
But I really want the other metrics in health connect too.
So now, I mostly just let Fitbit Sync the weight data everyday, and then if there is a significant change, I may open up the Wyze app on my phone to sync all the new measurements to my health connect.
Another thing I am thinking of doing, is just exporting all of my Wyze measurements once a month or so and then converting that data to be able to just import it into Health connect manually. Every so often. I believe there are third-party apps that will accept CSV files and upload the data into health connect. I think one of them may have been the HealthSync app. I just remember I saw that it is possible to Upload CSV files of measurements into health connect in some way or another and I figured I would just end up doing that every once in awhile. Haven’t done it yet though, just did the research to see it was possible. At some point I might set up to have an AI agent like openclaw or Claude run a cron job to do it automatically at a set interval:
- Have an automation request to export my scale data to my email address
- Have an email automation to Forward an email from that specific matching Wyze address with the .CSV export and specific subject line to go to my agent’s email address (other security measures in place to prevent prompt injection and spoofing)
- Have the agent covert the data to standard formats (Wyze adds letters with the numbers in the cell for many fields and this has to be converted to just numbers)
- Have the agent import the data into health connect.
I plan to have that all be automated at some point since Wyze isn’t doing it on their end. But the majority of users won’t realistically be able to do that for a long time. Agentic workflow is not currently something everyone knows how to do. Maybe Wyze should just tell Claude code to fix it their health connect integration so the Wi-Fi data is synced too (and have a real engineer review the proposed changes, of course). Things like this can be implemented quickly nowadays.
Agreed, this is something that Wyze should fix on their end.
Re: CSV Import to Health Connect - For my personal use / curiosity, I’ve been playing around with Android Studio + Gemini and made a working prototype of an app that imports weight data + body fat data from a CSV file into Health Connect.
The agentic workflow is a little over my head - but would be cool to see.
Do you have any recommendations for apps that can view / visualize your health connect data? I’ve been using this one to export the data and do it manually (which inspired me to try creating my own): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teqxnology.healthdataexport
I currently use Home Assistant to view my Health Connect Data in history charts since the home assistant companion app includes a health connect sensors features to pull all the health connect data for me automatically. Then I can create dedicated Health Dashboards using lovelace cards, etc. I can use the history graph or mini graph card.
I’ve heard there is a docker called ble-scale-sync that might be able to be programmed to intercept smart scale data directly via bluetooth and push it to MQTT. I haven’t tried it though.
I have heard good things about the app WeightLog
Yep. Health Connect
@carverofchoice is your Fitbit to health connect sync still working? Early last week mine stopped syncing. The sync would work fine between wyze to Fitbit but Fitbit would fail to trigger a health connect update.
I’m thinking this could be related to the upcoming Google health switch for Fitbit / I hope it resolves itself…
No. I just checked.
But the good news (for me) is that my scale ultra bodyscan is now updating to health connect even through the Wi-Fi without me having to have the app open!
I don’t know when they fixed this, but now all my data is syncing to health connect through the Wi-Fi automatically! I had been begging them to implement and fix this and just found out they did it silently and didn’t even let me know. I only found out because I was verifying for you if my Fitbit was still syncing (it’s not) and found that Wyze is doing it automatically now straight to health connect and I didn’t even notice.
Thanks Wyze. Now go fix Fitbit for everyone else still using that, please.
great to hear! I just turned my health connect sync via Wyze back on and it’s updating the weight data after I open the app (i.e. it seems to need a little kick to initiate the sync) - which is an improvement from not syncing at all… hopefully in the future it does it all in the background without having to touch any apps.
