That takes me to the Events tab, or I could just work from the Events tab at the start and select past dates in the timeline near the top (swipe left and right on the date timeline to see what’s available):
The recent events under the individual cam seems limited to 30 events, so depending how busy the cam is, may not show them all.
But yeah at that point you can go to the events tab and see the rest there. The part that seems to confuse people is it only loads a certain number, then you have to scroll to get it to load more.
Individual cam is showing ‘today’. If I click it the events go away (there is no ‘yesterday’). So I currently only see 10 events going back 45 minutes from now. My ‘all events’ shows events on all cameras going back to 11 hours ago so that helps some.
Like I said, when you get to the bottom of the list in the “all events” you just have to scroll some more, a little circle refresh will happen for a second and then more will load (if there are any more for that day).
You can filter the “all events” to specific cams and change days etc too.
Thanks for pointing this out. I did not know you could continue scrolling. Even after reading your post how to do it I could not get it to scroll.
This is where it gets interesting. I found that it may be effected by a combination of phone/screen/refresh rate etc. In my case on a Samsung s21 ultra when I scroll I only move my finger about about a 1/2 inch. This is a memory function in my brain after using this phone for a period of time.
As I’m scrolling down the event list I’m only moving my finger approx a 1/2 inch.
When I get to the end of the list I keep moving my finger as described above, and nothing happens. I kept doing it in rapid succession and finally saw the green refresh circle. It did not scroll.
Now I was really curious.
What I found was to get the next listing you need to do a long scroll. On my phone about an inch.
Bottom line. If you cannot get the next listing try a long scroll.
Hope this helps someone scratching their head, as I’ve been doing.
With these sorts of refresh features (like pulling down from the top to refresh a page in a mobile Web browser), I’ve gotten into the habit of doing kind of a press-and-drag gesture with a fingertip, and often the starting point for the fingertip (the tap/press) makes a difference in the app’s/OS’s behavior.
Good points. Like I posted it’s a combination of many possibilities. I have gotten use to Samsung’s touch and display which in my opinion are world class.
My final thought on this is it would be nice if the “refresh” wasn’t needed. It is not intuitive (at least to me). Something at the end of the list that could prompt the user or if the list could be automatically added off screen focus.
Anyway, learned something new today. That is always a good thing.
Loading a long list of events would cause the screen to take a long time to load, but they should probably add a “more” or “scroll for more” or something like that.
Similar to how most people don’t realize you can pinch to zoom in on the timeline when watching SD playback.
There is a scroll learning curve there. I’ve got the scroll motion down for my S23 now, yet don’t have events before 4:20 am on 7 cameras in a busy area today, 3:31 am yesterday. Is there an event limit per day on ‘all events’?
OK. I had to try and break it. I had to refresh 32 times before it stopped at 3:05 am. It appears that each refresh brings in another 20. So in my case over 600 events in 13 hours. Hmmm, that’s a bunch but I belive it.
I know for sure there was a loud burglary next door very early Tuesday morning. I was not alerted and the event was not there when I checked upon waking. It is not in ‘all events’ now. When the police asked for footage I had to watch the SD card minute by minute until I found it. And it is unlikely that my several cameras on a main street plus the ally behind have nothing to record for 1 hour let alone 3-4.
On the old app I know sometimes I would have to scroll up and hold for a second or two to get old events, but that hasn’t been the case with the 3.x app, but maybe it differs from phone to phone. Give that a try, like once you see the spinning circle keep holding for a bit.
If the cam is recording events only it is easier since there will be green only when there was an event, and you can use the arrows to skip between them, but when set to 24x7 yeah it is difficult to use the timeline now.
