It depends on the person. For some people like me it has never stopped working. I use Google Home with my Wyze cameras basically every day. I even relinked to it within the last month as a test and it was successful.
But other people aren’t able to link to it, some of them since as far back as August 2023.
So, this issue isn’t affecting me at all, but I am trying to help get it fixed for other people. I was the one who got this issue added into the fix it Friday event in 2023 on behalf of all the people having problems, and I linked to lots and lots of reports about this issue and told many people they should go vote for it so we could get someone to reach out to Google. I also collected a lot of logs from people and I then also brought up the issue to the Google Home team directly during one of their AMA’s as well, and I got a lot of people to contact Google support officially through various methods listed on their website for reporting these things. Unfortunately, there is only so much I can do to help resolve this issue. We’ve been waiting on Google for over a year now. They admitted the problem is on their end and was introduced when they revamped their app around August 2023. For some reason it blocks some new users from linking Wyze to Google Home, but it isn’t affecting everybody. However, it has been affecting some people for almost a year and a half now, not just a week ago. The Google support agent you talked to may have only become aware of it within the last week, but I know for sure that people from the Google Home Team have known about this issue for more than a year, especially because I personally brought it up to them and they responded about it. So there are people at Google who have definitely known for much, much longer, but the person you talked to could be right that they just found out a week ago.
Wish I had better news. As I said, the issue is not affecting me (I use it every day and it works great), I’ve just been tracking the issue and pushing for resolution for all the rest of you who are struggling with it because I like to help people and want the rest of you to have a good experience too. Since a support Agent said it just started a week ago, maybe that’s a good sign that the new Google Home team employees decided about a week ago that they’re finally going to fix this when the last team from a year ago blew it off and forgot about it. We can hope.
LOTS of iOS users are having the issue. More iOS users than Android users, though we’ve seen reports from both, it’s just more common from the iOS Google Home attempts to see a failed connection.
I know some people have been successful by doing something like borrowing an Android phone, or using an old android phone, or running an Android emulator on a computer, then loading Google Home and trying to link that way.
However, there are also some Android users having the issue too, so that isn’t a guaranteed workaround.
Something I would consider doing which I don’t think anyone tried yet is to sideload an OLD version of the Google Home app on Android, like from 2 years ago (using APKmirror or something like that)…something prior to summer 2023 when the integration was working, then try to link Wyze to Google Hoome and see if that works. It’s possible the bug is partly on the back end changes they made in August 2023, and not the front-end app GUI, but it would be worth a try if I was desperate to try a workaround. that’s what I would try.
Has someone from Wyze acknowledged this is a problem in the forums? Why do I have the sneaking suspicion that this will still be a problem 6 months from now?
Stumbled across this thread and figured I’d add in. I believe I have a v1 camera. Its pretty old that I got from a buddy. It works in the Wyze Andriod application but fails on my GH or…and this is the best part…their own my.wyze web page. Short of deleting the camera from Wyze and readding it I have followed all the recommendations in this post. So odd.
Okay, that’s a different animal. In that case, I’d suggest starting a new topic to get your issue proper attention. If I was creating it, I’d try categorizing it with Services & Integrations and tagging it with web-view and cam-pan-v1 (or whatever camera model/version it actually is).
I’d also post the firmware version that the camera is running and/or update the firmware if you haven’t already done that. I don’t know for sure if this is the case, but I would expect that Web View might require certain firmware features in order to work, and those features may not be available in older firmware versions. That’s just a guess on my part, though.
Ha! You called it. Here we are almost 6 months later and it’s still bugging out. Mine still is not working for me, I’ve relinked and nothing. Of note, I just finally added one of my 2 new Cam v4 yesterday and still not working with the new cam. I give up. I use the Wyze app exclusively for viewing anyways and still would even if this was working. It’s just convenient to be able to see ALL of my devices in one place since I run both a Wyze and a Smart Life/Tuya ecosystems. Everything else Wyze works fine in Google Home including the thermostat although the interface for it has always been kind of archaic looking from the start, but it’s worked!
I JUST received my Wyze Cam 4 and was experiencing the same issue on Google Home on Android. Running the latest firmware, and was getting no live feed on Google Home. Working fine in Wyze app though. So, after re-linking Google Home to the Wyze it still wasn’t working. So I uninstalled Google Home, rebooted my phone, and reinstalled Google Home and it works now.
Two years later and this problem still exists. Your message did fix my problem, though. They totally refused to work when setup on IOS, but worked immediately as soon as I accessed them using Google Home on an Android device. They now display both in the Wyze app and on my Google Nest Display.
Still nothing on Google Home app on iOS devices. The Wyze cams are recognized & attempt to stream.
Once Wyze cams are set up on the Google home app on iOS device they will display on a Google TV device, however, not on the Google home app itself on the iOS device
Is the workaround what wsalomon75 did, uninstalling Google Home, rebooting phone and reinstalling? Or what’s the work around your referring to? Thank you.
Yeah, I would unlink Wyze from Google Home, then either borrow somebody’s Android phone And log into Google home and then link up through Google home on Android to wyze.
OR Install an Android emulator on any kind of computer. Whether it be a Windows computer or an Apple computer or whatever, search for installing an Android emulator on the computer. Then go install Google home for Android on the Android emulator and Link Google home to Wyze.
Problem solved. The issue seems to be that some versions of Google home on iOS are failing to connect to Wyze, and the Google home team admitted the problem was on Google home app on iOS somehow. We don’t know a lot more than that.
It doesn’t seem to happen to absolutely to everybody, and anyone who set it up prior to like August 2023 has it working on iOS just fine, but some people who tried in 2024 and 2025 aren’t able to get it to connect unless they establish the connection from Android first.
