Please develop a garage door opener to replace the wall button and not have to modify the overhead mechanical unit. Would be glad to help develop and test!
Would also love to see Wyze make a garage Door opener. I have the MyQ and it works OK but Iām sure Wyze could make it better and work in the same app as the lights and cameras.
I too am looking for a smart garage door opener- one that will work with the dip switches for an older opener. In a perfect world, it would be nice if you could control it both through app, and fingerprint entry so my kids without phones could open and close it too.
I use Alexa to control my garage door now. It utilizes a Sonoff switch to do it.
There are drawbacks, There is no camera, so you are not sure if you left it open when you are away from home.
It works flawlessly though from an alexa, smart phone or smart watch.
This process only works on the older openers. These are the type that have the little doorbell button.
I think they should sell a set of them. One replaces the existing button with the 2 wires (as you walk into the house) and the 2nd one would be a weather-proof finger-print reader to open the door from outside.
I am frequently out of town and have had the need to open the garage door to allow a neighbor to leave a delivered package. I used a Wyze Plug, an old 120vac to 12vdc adapter (like used on wireless phone bases and many other devices) and a 12vdc relay to open and close my garage door. The adapter allows all low voltage from the Wyze Plug and connects to the relay coil. The relay contacts go to the same connections as the button. Turning the plug on and off is just like pushing the button. I also have a sensor on the door and a Cam Pan to monitor.
Would like to know if Wyze is planning to make a garage door opener anytime soon.
I have not heard anything about one at this time.
I currently have the My Q smart garage opener. I donāt like the My Q very much. Tends to disconnect itself pretty often. I would love to see one from Wyze to compete.
I own the My Q but it wonāt work because my garage is metal and detached so itās out of range. It was a waste of money.

I did the same thing. the only difference is that I used a relay which connects directly to the 110v plug and outputs 12v for the garage door.
Contact sensor on the door lets me know it was opened or closed. Plus my cameraās allows me to verify.
Works like a champ.
It would be nice to have something like the WYZE door lock keypad to open/close the garage door.
I am running short-term rental and every time guests change, I have to go there to change the garage door pad code (for security so previous guest wonāt have access).
Currently I can use LiftMaster MyQ to open/close garage door through phone app, just need some smart keypad outside the garage that I can reprogram through phone app, like what we do to WYZE lock keypad.
Garage doors have some safety liability issues. WYZE can go around it by providing a smart keypad to bridge the gap
Add my vote for a wifi/internet-enabled add-on to an existing garage door opener. Iām currently using the Meross/Refoss Collie, itās pretty much perfect, and only about $30-40, it uses low-voltage wires to the opener, and has a magnetic sensor for the door. About a 20 minute install. This is much better than the MyQ system, IMHO, because MyQ doesnāt work with legacy (older) openers. Camera integration would be nice, but not a not a deal-breaker if not, Wyze cams are cheap enough that Iāve already got them in my garages. I agree with some of the other posters above, being able to wire it into the current low-voltage switch would be a nice option, it was a little hard to get to my opener unit up on the high ceiling. Heck, perhaps Wyze should just license whoever makes the Meross Collie, Iād prefer fewer apps. The only negative to the Meross, is that the door can open/close unexpectedly (to someone standing there, if youāre opening/closing the door remotely), this is a safety issue (finger loss at the door joints, crush risk from the door). Thatās probably the safety concern that Liftmaster has. For modern Liftmaster openers (with built-in smart-home integration), remote operation causes the garage lights to flash, and a beeping noise to sound, for about 5 seconds before the door will open/close. Something like this would be nice, but for me, not necessary IMHO. Maybe Wyze can offer two products? One like the Meross, one one with added lights/cameras/lights-and-beeps? Ryobi used to offer a modular opener unit, to which one could add-on modules, like lights, cameras, etc. Too bad they ran into patent issues and withdrew the product.
So when wyze will act on public demand they are too busy with vaccum and water hoses than what public want
I would love to see this also!
New product idea. Have an add-on black box that can control your garage door to open or close from the app, tell you if the door is open or closed, and use the front door key pad for a garage door key pad to allow opening the door with a code. No one makes the whole package right now.
MODERATOR NOTE: This is a merged wishlist post. Donāt forget to VOTE at the top.
Is use a set of contacts, and at 10pm it runs a routine via Alexa to announce that the garage door is open/closed
I couldnāt wait and decided to try a Datonten Garage door controller from Amazon for under $25. It works on 2.4gh, it uses the Smart Life app, sends notification if door opens or closes and you can program voice commands with Siri. You can also buy a camera that will sync with it. !5 minutes to install on most garage door openers. I did have to buy a separate outside key pad for neighbors access when Iām away for emergencies. Iād gladly change to Wyze if they had it with their front door keypad on the App.
Hey bartdj. Can you share your routine?
I canāt paste a pic of it on here, but all you do is Name it, schedule it, and choose custom as your action . Type the action as if you were asking āAlexa, Is the Garage Openā at 10pm it will respond as if you asked that question
