Garage Cam V2 - Google Home Not Working

I was hoping that when my google devices updates that the garage cam would start working with google home, on all the TVs, Phones (Android & IOS) and tablets, get the same message ~ Camera Unavailable is all I see. The firestick continuse to work with Alexa… I’ve unlinked and re-signed in to Wyze multiple times. and the wyze app on my Iphone does work. Not buying any more cameras untill wyze fixes Google Home problem. Would load the wyse app on TV’s but olay store says its not compatible… Any suggestions? TY

Google says: In this case, you have done the necessary steps in the Google Home app. I know that this is quite inconvenient but I would highly recommend that you contact Wyze support again. Since Google Home app updated to latest version it may affect compatibility with the 3rd party app.

Cameras appear offline in the app, though they are online and viewable iOS/Android :construction: In-Progress (B-20874)

I’ll note right at the beginning that I do not have any of the Wyze Cam Floodlight products. I mention that because this looks like you have a Cam Floodlight v2 based on the firmware version your Google Home app screenshot is reporting. You’re one version back (i.e., not current), but I don’t blame you for waiting to update. Some users—it appears to be users who specifically do not broadcast their Wi-Fi’s SSID—have been reporting issues with Cam Floodlight v2 connecting to their home networks following the update. We’re still waiting for a response from Wyze about that.

Does this mean you have Google Play Store on the TV or that it’s a television running Android/Google TV? If so, then do you have the Google Home options available when you select the settings gear? I see this in the upper-right corner of my Google TV and also on a Chromecast HD connected to a television running a different OS. I can use the TV’s remote to navigate the tiles and pull up different cameras on that screen,. No separate Google Home app on the TV itself is required, because it’s built in. That’s something I noticed a few months ago. This topic describes it a little more:

If possible, I’d check to see if your TVs (those running Android, anyway) are current with their updates.

This is likely not Wyze’s problem to fix, at least not solely. My experience with viewing any cameras via Google Home has always been hit or miss—some cameras work sometimes—and I think a lot of it has to do with unannounced changes Google always seems to be making. (Wyze does this, too.) If you poke around in the Forum, you can find other topics where Android users of the Google Home app seem to have much better results viewing Wyze cameras than iOS Google Home app users do, which is why I tend to recommend the Wyze app itself for the best viewing experience. It at least one such topic, it’s been mentioned that there are unresolved issues between Google’s Home app team and Apple’s iOS team, and that’s been months (if not years) ago. I have some non-Wyze cameras that I’ve been able to stream in the Google Home app in the past when I’ve enabled Public Preview, but at some point even that stopped working for me because of things Google keeps doing. I do not have any Google/Nest cameras, so I can’t speak to the Google Home app experience with those, though I would expect those to stream reliably within the Google Home app.

If you were quoting from Google Support, then this seems to be an acknowledgement that they broke something with their update and that it’s not the result of anything Wyze did:

That’s my interpretation, anyway. Also, the link to the “B-20874” Known Issue that you shared doesn’t say anything specifically about Google Home or any other integration, so I interpret this as Wyze’s acknowledgement of an issue with their own app. That page says it was last updated over a year ago, so I don’t think it’s a reflection of any recent progress. I don’t believe that page is updated with any regularity.

Yeah, I’d…

  1. Primarily use the actual Wyze app for viewing cameras.
  2. Look under the Settings gear of your TVs to see if you already have Google Home services available there if you’re trying to stream cameras to your TVs.
  3. Check your TVs for available updates.
  4. Consider updating the firmware on your Cam Floodlight v2 (but also potentially wait on this, especially if you use a “hidden” SSID for your Wi-Fi).

Don’t know who, what or why but the when - all of the sudden the camera started working about six hours after Google said its Wyze not Us. In the app the cameras FW says Up To Date… Camera still doesn’t work with apples google home appp and has stopped working on the firestick alexa app. Lookiing @ the duo door bell camera.

This actually doesn’t surprise me, because—like I said—my experience viewing Wyze Cams in the Google Home Android app have been inconsistent. If at some point hours or days later you find that you can no longer view them in the app, then that would also not surprise me.

This also does not surprise me, because other Forum users have been reporting that for months, if not years, as I previously mentioned. I don’t know what to tell you about Fire TV Stick.
