I just checked the boxes of my two Cam Pan v3s (as well as the cameras themselves). The only potentially meaningful difference I can see is on the QC sticker, which includes some additional information for the older camera, but I don’t know if that’s significant to this issue.
I’ve never used Cam Plus, and I haven’t gotten a sense that this is related.
I’ve just returned two V3 cameras to Amazon that were purchased within the last two weeks. Both exhibited the problem with inability to connect with SD card in the playback mode.
It is still my desire to have another one or two V3 cameras to go with what I have, but I don’t know when I should try to order another. Anyone have any idea when I will know when it’s been fixed and safe to order another V3 from Amazon?
Very frustrating. I would’ve done the same thing in your situation. I like @ssummerlin 's suggestion to consider looking at buying from a different vendor in the hopes that you would then get them from a different batch. Like he said, maybe Home Depot, or there are some others that have historically sold V3’s, like one of the pet stores, eBay, Costco I think had some for a while, Best Buy, TikTok shop, maybe even the Wyze website, or Woot (which is technically Amazon, but might offer a different batch of V3’s…though maybe not since they are likely mostly refurbished which might make you just get back the ones you just returned ).
Anyway, I hope you can find something that works. If I notice a good deal for them show up on something like Slickdeals or whatever I’ll try to remember to post something for you.
I don’t believe v3 batch is the problem. I bought a v3 two pack at Home Depot in December 2022. Both shipped with v3 firmware 4.36.9.139. I setup one v3 in December 2022. The second v3 I left new in the box until I set it up March of this year (2024). I assume they both were from the same manufacturing batch since they came in a two pack.
The first v3 had to update fewer times to get to the current firmware. The first v3 obviously was setup with an older App version.
The first v3 to this day has a working Event Playback button to view the SD card. The second v3 set up in March 2024 has the Event Playback SD card not found error. Both can view the SD card from the Home Screen and clicking the green “View Playback” button from the Home Screen.

Great work, @StevenA. It looks like a good test of this theory is for somebody with a brand new Wyze Cam V3 to attempt setting it up on an old APK of the Wyze app.
Hoping somebody has a brand new cam laying around and willing to spend 30 minutes testing
I have not heard anything about having this issue with V4. I may buy one and check it out.
I have hesitated getting a V4 because I didn’t want to also pay fo rCam Plus. I use Cam Plus lite on all my V3’s but that won’t work on the V4’s. Thoughts anyone ?
I installed my V4 on 3/29/2024 and have had no issues with it. Playback of SD from events and live view both work just fine as does Cam Plus cloud recordings. Of course Xfinity has been screwing around doing maintenance starting a midnight without notice which of course effects cloud recording during those hours.
I just ordered “cam plus unlimited annual” to all my cameras. I am also going to order a V4 because of the SD card recognition issues on my V3’s.
Now that I have cam plus unlimited I’m wondering if there’s any advantage to having that over cam plus light for my V3 cameras. The V3’s mostly don’t work correctly now with the SD card issue,
I know there’s a benefit for cam plus on Wyze pan cam cameras and Wyze doorbell but what about the advantages for V3. Are there any?
I don’t care for subscriptions so I will stay away from cam add-ons. The regular SD system works for me. I really don’t need a spotlight, but I can turn it off.
Unfortunately, these tests failed. Both new cameras from BestBuy arrived with firmware version 4.36.9.139. I initially tried the below steps on this stock firmware, then upgraded to the latest firmware when I did not get any success. Below are the different legacy Android app versions I tried with no luck.
App versions 2.35.0.88 and 2.37.0.117 did not allow me to sign into my Wyze account due to an inaccurate “Incorrect password” error.
App version 2.47.0.373 had the same “gray” playback button bug as my last post.
Setting up a brand new V3 using Android App version 2.38.0.153 from December 15, 2022 had the same “gray” playback button bug as my last post.
All in all, I had no luck which makes me think this may be a hardware issue… but then again, why would 1/2 of Steven’s work if they were from the same batch… Strange… but Wyze, please spend some time getting to the bottom of this! @WyzeJasonJ@StevenA
I have v2.50.5 (499) app running on my Pixel 7 and am also experiencing this issue. The notifications from each of my two Wyze Doorbells is showing up turned 90 degrees. Within the app everything looks as expected. It’s just the notification pop up that is showing with a 90 degree turn
