Wyze Cam v3 Pro Firmware v4.58.14.3289
New security update: Wyze SightSafe
This update adds embedded user-authenticated signatures at the media source to strengthen protection for your event videos and livestreams.
Make sure to update your app and firmware to get the latest features and improvements.
Maybe I was being dyslexic when I read it - however 4.58.14..3289 not available for my V3 Pro cameras (either from bulk firmware update page nor from the camera main pages).
I don’t use those platforms, but I’ll be interested to see what other users have to say about that and if the “Share” feature has been fixed or if it’s still hosing video downloads. I imagine the “Captured by {Wyze Cam model}” message is still being tacked onto the end, and I still think that should be a user-selectable feature with a toggle similar to the per-camera Show Wyze Logo toggle, though for convenience I think it makes more sense to have a tag on/off toggle as an app-level setting ( Account ➜ App Settings) applied to all cameras.
I agree. That’s cool to see. I got the update, too.
Now that I have this update, I think I understand: The user doesn’t do this, so it’s not a user configuration feature; devices are now arranged in subcategories when making a selection to add to the app. For instance, if on the app’s Home screen I tap ➜ Device ➜ Cameras, instead of being presented with a long list of all the Wyze Cam models I now see different tiles for subcategories of devices: Wired Camera, Battery Camera, etc. I don’t know why something like “Floodlight Camera” is singular but “Video Doorbells” is plural, so that seems like something that should be corrected for consistency, but I think it’s a cool navigation enhancement.
Not really any help to me. I have indoor cameras, outdoor cameras, grouped by locations. If I now I’m going to have multiple sub-categories by type of camera, I’m going to be upset.
I don’t think it’s anything to get upset about. I think it’s supposed to make navigating/selecting products when adding a new device to the app easier or more friendly. I don’t think it has any effect on user-created groups. It’s just presenting the new-device-selection option differently and in a way where the graphics on the tiles are larger and easier to see.
I suspect it’s at least in part an effort to manage the growing product portfolio, since older cameras are still there and a user should be able to select and set one of those up again (like, say, after doing a factory reset on a Cam v2). It just segments the products into subcategories instead of lumping them together in a longer scrollable list. It’s just an organizational tool.
The new tab bars in iOS/ipadOS 18+ are now showing for me on my ipad mini. Apple introduced them to help make navigation within an app a bit easier to not only to recognize, but use. This is not the case within this version of the app. And because the app does not conform to the native system light/dark modes, well, it’s just clunkier than ever. Please, just go back to using the normal button tab bar for app navigation at the base of the interface.
