Just tap the red ‘-’ icon to delete. You don’t need any selection except the cam to turn on the notification. You do not want universal actions you only want to select a cam under device actions which you already have done. You have 1 IF device and 1 DO device for the notification, the doorbell. Don’t over edit the automation. What you saw was a portion of another screen captured inappropriately.
Only thing I would like to look into now would be how to access the sd card’s video on my desktop pc but ‘without’ removing the sd card from the doorbell, is this possible with this duo cam please?
Unless it is available thru Wyze webview online, no, you would have to remove it from the duo and load onto your pc. However, I’ll look into the online webview since I don’t use it. Get back to you shortly.
UPDATE: For the webview, you have access to the 14 day cloud storage of your video. Fairly easy and simple to navigate at Wyze.com. The dropdown has a “View my cams” selection that you can log in. There is a selection for cameras that you can use if you need. You can select a date within the 14 days or display all 14 days of cloud videos.
Your webview account logon is the same as your mobile account logon.
Sorry not understanding about the cloud storage. If you are referring to the URL “my.wyze.com/live”, Ther is the purple colored drop down on top left of the page allowing me to only select/deselect each cam to ‘view’. no other option or anything cloud related?
Are you using your pc/laptop or your phone? When I logon with pc and click on the purple box, a dropdown appears listing all of my cams with a selection box next to each. I can load 1 or many cam’s cloud storage. After selecting you click the purple “view” box to get video displayed. Maybe you only have 1 camera? The point is what you are accessing is the 14 day cloud storage video. It’s not the sdcard, but it is as close as you can get without removing the sdcard from the cam and opening it on your pc. There is no other solution.
Quite frankly, this is just a more comprehensive viewing of what you have available on the events tab in the app. More videos on a single screen.
So sorry I had forgotten to respond to this. Not sure if this might be the answer to your question. I simply wanted an audible alert on my iphone whenever the doorbell is pressed for when I am outside of the house.
Don’t you have audible sound on your phone for other notifications like text, email, apps? I have “Sounds and vibration” setting on my Android and a setting to designate which apps send notifications. Have a ton of sounds to choose for notifications but it’s a general notification sound. Maybe the solution was as simple as exploring what you already have on your iphone. Or were you looking for something distinctive for the doorbell press?
No apology is necessary, though I appreciate your taking the time to respond.
I understand that you want a notification on your phone whenever the doorbell button is pressed. I’m just confused about the need for an automation that simply enables notifications. If the notifications aren’t being disabled otherwise at some other time or by some other event, then why would it be necessary to have an automation enable them? That’s the head-scratcher for me.
To me, it just seems easier to enable notifications and leave them on.
Thanks. The general notifications with this doorbell options is not the same as with the previous Vdieo Doorbell Pro. With that one I could choose which notification I would like to receive but with duo cam there is only one option, either ALL notifications are on or off.
And I do not want to receive any other notifications except for the doorbell press, hence the reason for having to do as we have done,
For some reason the duo doorbell is lacking in notifications to the phone for doorbell press. You get the chime ring and an event in the app for the doorbell cam. I get nothing as a Wyze notification. There is no action for doorbell press with the duo as was in the DBv2. I use the Alexa feature for doorbell press and announcements to my echo speaker and phone. Or help create the automation for @fonzhende1 as was done.
Just to be certain, before typing this response I did doorbell press on both of my duos, All I have gotten is the event and the person notification from Wyze. I have received both from Alexa notifications. I think Wyze came up short with the duo, but many will ask, why do you want notifications if you can hear the chime? And as you have discovered, @fonzhende1 had an additional layer needed for his notifications.
I am still getting 2 types of notifs, smoke alarm sound and CO alarm whenever there is a horn blowing on the street or plane passing overhead. I am guessing there is no way to turn those off?
Only issue left which I can think of at this time is how I can view someone who just walked by in front of the Camera? The Events does not show accurately everyone or all motions and also does not show the most recent events until after a while.
For clarity, someone walked by at 9.12am, checking the Recent EVENTS tab 7 minutes later at 9.17, it is still showing 9.10 as the latest event which was a vehicle driving by. Yes, I scrolled down the screen to refresh.
This is a frequent complaint. When you state scrolled down to refresh, did you pull down the screen from the top and actually see the refresh cycle circular arrow? (Please don’t be insulted by me asking or any presumptive comments I may state)
What about the sdcard footage? Did you try that right away? Try a comparison between sdcard recorded results and cloud results. Cloud events are what you see immediately on the camera page. Cloud video footage can be delayed for several reasons, especially recording to cloud servers and then having it transported to your Wyze account and cameras. There is also a dependency on your internet and wifi, especially your ISP and if dsl, cable or fiber service along with your modem or gateway and upload/download speeds. Instant results is literally impossible unless you have your own internet and wifi infrastructure and servers.
I have 1 gigabit cable service and experience acceptable delays, but nothing in the timeframes you are experiencing. I am contemplating switching to fiber service.
It’s too much trouble for me to have to go outside and disconnect the cam then take the SD Card out and replace afterwards and all that. I would only remove the SD Card if there should ever be a real reason to do so and I am hoping not.
Eventually I will get a CCTV type setup whenever I should be able to afford it in the future. This way I can simply hit a rewind button at any time to review anything seamlessly.
What was the downside for you on not accessing sdcard footage via your phone or a tablet? Losing older events that may have been overwritten? Viewing multiple events simultaneously? Maybe I didn’t fully understand your need for recorded footage on-demand. If it’s recorded it’s on the sdcard if you are recording continuous until the card is full and overwriting takes over.
