Failed to load from local storage

Im of the same opinion, ive reported this problem for months exactly the same problem as you ,no satisfaction at all Im going to cut my losses cannot keep dealing with these time wasting cameras they know this is a problem yet no joy in getting answers or a fix cheersMike

I have the same problem

Still no fix

I still have no answers from wyze support to this issue. I think the cameras are completelly useless if one can record the events detected.

Has anyone gotten an answer to this? I need to know whether to wait longer, or just cut bait and move on to another system

I wish I had an answer for you, because this and a similar-feeling issue with the app throwing errors when someone tries to view a microSD recording from Cam Pan v3 on the Events tab persist and are still being actively discussed in the community. As I see it, the good news is that Wyze is planning to resume Fix-It Friday, where these kinds of issues tend to be tracked and updated publicly; the bad news is that it probably won’t happen until January 2025.

If you haven’t already done so, then I’d reproduce the issue and submit a log, followed by creating a ticket with the Log ID, to continue to keep this issue on the engineers’ radar.

Not my experience, either. Whether I jump from an event or directly from the current view window, I get “No video at the selected time”, even from times that I previously viewed.

My working theory is currently that this was caused by my updating my Pan Cam v3 to firmware 4.50.5.1318.

I’ve already submitted a ticket and attached a log.

…and unfortunately, I had them close the ticket prematurely, because power cycling my camera resolved the problem. But it turns out that the return of SD card playback was only temporary. It stopped recording and playing back soon thereafter.

As of today (10/27/24), I’ve reverted the firmware to 4.50.4.9222. My camera is recording and playing back from SD card at the moment. I’ll give it a day or two to see whether this fix persists…

I’ve updated my Panv3s to the latest firmware and they work fine (as long as I don’t try to go from the events tab). Viewing an event on the main camera screen and then going to SD card from there takes me to the event. From time to time I’ve noticed sometimes (both on Panv3 and OGs) it jumps to the wrong time on the SD card and you have to go back to the correct time, but usually it goes right to the event, that’s pretty rare.

Can you tell me how you reverted the firmware? I have the same problem with mine on the same firmware you had (1318). Is the camera continuing to work fine?

Welcome to the Forum, @Elahrairah!

I imagine the firmware downgrade was accomplished by flashing it. If you decide to try that, please note that Steps 4, 5, and 10 in the instructions may be incorrect: Where they say “folder”, they should probably actually say “file”. (For instance, if you download the 4.50.4.9222 firmware, you’ll have a compressed file called recovery_wyzepan3_+4.50.4.9222.bin.zip. If you unzip that, you’ll get a folder called recovery_wyzepan3_+4.50.4.9222.bin. Within that folder is a file called recovery_wyzepan3.bin. It is this file that you want to place in the root directory of your microSD card in order to flash that firmware version into the camera.)

I’m not convinced that the firmware version is the issue here, though. I currently have one Cam Pan v3 on firmware 4.50.5.1318 and another on 4.50.5.0587. I’m updating the older one now because I recently noticed that it apparently hasn’t been recording to microSD (though I haven’t pulled the card to confirm). Because the camera on the newer firmware is working as expected, I don’t see a compelling reason to go back to the 4.50.4.9222 firmware.

I agree that firmware was NOT the issue. Soon after downgrading, the [mis]behavior resumed.

I have since taken the original sdcard and installed it in a new pancam v3, with the latest firmware, and the problem has not returned.

I suspect that the pancam v3 can’t really take more than a year or two of the relatively benign weather of San Diego.

I sure do miss San Diego weather.

I have been experiencing this issue for long time and it does not matter if the camera is new or old, I came to the conclusion that this is a way to force users to sign up for cloud video recording…

So how are all of us that have no subscription using our cams?

Since replacing my camera (and moving the SDCard from the “problem” camera to the new one), I haven’t had any issues with recording and playing back.

I don’t use my Wyze cameras for anything I need to rely on. I use them primarily to record the sky 24/7, to catch anything interesting such as meteors or rocket launches. I’ll occasionally review overnight events and bring up the playback. In the case of rocket launches, I know when they took place, and I can review the recording and extract clips to put on YouTube, if they’re interesting enough.

i HAVE CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION…

For this price point, I concur. I like them to review surroundings but not for anything important.

I don’t have any evidence to suggest that this is a subscription issue. If it was, then why have I been experiencing this for several weeks on one of my Cam Pan v3s but not the other?

I was encouraged when I read about another community member’s experience with microSD card recordings on Cam v4, because that describes what I’ve been seeing on this one Cam Pan v3, and reformatting the card (I’ve tried both in-camera using the app and in a PC with the SD Association’s SD Memory Card Formatter for Linux) and then watching it for a while shows that storage space is being used (so presumably video is being recorded), but I’m not seeing the vertical green timeline for microSD recordings for that camera.

If I come up with any sort of resolution when I have some time to devote to this, I’ll try to report back.

I have qty. 4 cam-pro 3
I get the same error “Failed to load from local storage” on 1 of 4
It has the latest firmware 4.50.5.1318

If it is only one of 4 then I’d check your SD card to make sure it isn’t faulty, and format it using the SD formatter from sdcard.org
