Expired subscription no longer records locally

I have four V3 cameras which work intermittently. When I tried the trial subscription to record the videos to the cloud it was okay.

When hat subscription expired the movement clips are no longer recorded to the SD cards! Does anyone know why not?

As long as you have SD card recording enabled it should be working fine. How are you trying to access the recordings? It is different from just hitting the play button on the cloud clips like you used to.

Don’t see why it would matter, but if it is definitely not recording to SD card you could try the “reset services” in settings.

Check the settings. Go to advanced settings. Make sure the SD card recordings are toggled on. If not, turn it on. If it won’t turn on, your SD card might be bad

Note that SD card playback recordings don’t show up in the events tab. You have to click on the view playback button on the Livestream page.

Is that a v3 thing? All mine show up on events, just have to use the SD card button to view the recording instead of the play button.

I believe it’s an “old” UI thing. I don’t have anything that uses that UI, but I’ve seen that button in Cam v3 screenshots here in the Forum.

A month ago recordings are routinely show up under the event tab. Now after the trial subscription has expired that tab is empty but I do see a live stream still images however they are still images and they don’t actually play back if 10 or 12 seconds it used to under the events tab recordings.

My panv3 has the “jump to SD”. They’re all different. But I meant not showing SD events on that tab, seems odd.

That’s correct, the play button is only for cloud (subscription) recordings. You have to hit the SD card button to view the SD card playback of the event.

Ah, my bad. I thought you meant the “View Playback” button in the “old” UI that Cam v3 and older camera models (I believe) use, like in this screenshot:

I think there are 3 UIs now, old, new, and OG. And the v4 seems to be a little bit of each.

That was a bit of a surprise for me when I first bought the cams, that each one was a bit different, and the app was essentially just a container for each one’s native interface.

I believe that works for V3’s too. There are a couple of models where the SD card button doesn’t work (or at least it didn’t). But in this case, I just meant that the recordings themselves aren’t in that tab like the cloud events were, so it was a good point to make that you can link over to the SD card recordings. :+1:

Yeah with all mine the events tab shows them all, you get a still frame (with a play button that just gives an advertisement) but tapping the SD card button (or jump to SD on the Pan) brings you to the sd video of the event. Not sure if the V3 is like that or not.

Seems a lot of people get confused by the play button. While I understand it is an advertising opportunity, they take plenty of those opportunities other places, would make sense to get rid of that play button (or have it go to the SD card) when there is no subscription.

The events tab does not work. It used to before the trial subscription. I can now view events in the event viewer when I tap on the Event Playback.

I have reset the cameras without any change. How do I get the Event tab to work again? Using the Event Playback requires scrolling through time and dates and it’s a waste of time when compared to then clicking on a image in the Event tab viewer.

Perhaps there is a way to jump to the prior event in the Event Playback section?

Is this Wyze company trying to force a user to pay them?

I don’t have any v3s but with all my cameras when I tap an event and then tap “SD card” it plays the event. Same if I tap a notification.

I will write later I want details response and description of the problem, but I have found that the one camera that was not part of the trial subscription works as it always did. And you movement is recorded in the event tab and can be viewed by tapping on it .

The others that were a part of the subscription no longer work for they used to. All I can see a timeline and click on the green circle but it does not display a video just a still picture.

Two things I’d suggest, if you still have access to a subscription settings, uncheck the camera from it. Then go into the settings for that specific cam and hit the “reset services” button. It sounds like it just hasn’t fully realized that it is no longer part of a subscription.

Worst case, delete the cam from the app, then factory reset it by holding the button 15-20 seconds, then re-set it up in the app but use a slightly different name so it doesn’t download any old settings.

It is possible it may just clear itself out after some time too.

Thank you for the suggestions I suspect that you are correct that Wyze is doing everything it can to force me to subscribe and since I cannot find where I uncheck a subscribe button on each camera I will have to go through the lengthy process of a resetting the cameras so they appear to be new. Thank you.

Wyze isn’t trying to force you to subscribe to anything.

In your account settings, when a subscription is active you can go in and add/remove cameras. That may no longer be there, was just something to check. Same with trying the “reset services” as that will synch your camera’s current subscription status and may fix it. If none of that works, then you need to reset just that one cam that is having issues, not all of them.

I found that in Cam Plus Lite none of the camera were checked. I think that this MAY be why the Events tab no longer show 12 second clips.

I’ll update this message in a day or two when Wyze’s system updates. It’s a problem that this trial subscription and ending after the 30 days has become so complicated to put the original system back together again!

If you had cam plus lite and cam plus trial I can see that definitely causing confusion. But if you have lite, just add the cams to that - you get free 12 second clips with that (on top of the SD card recordings) and it should overwrite whatever settings are causing issues.
