Error (code 3001)!

Here is the extract from the v3 cam firmware release notes:
4.36.10.4054 (March 22, 2023)

  • Fixed a bug that caused Cam Plus Lite Events to not play due to Error 3001

From my side, I was on CamPlusLite when I had lots of 3001 errors and like other users the 3001 error stopped when I upgraded to cam plus (paid).

So it seems like the issue is already known by Wyze, they are just slow to give an explanation or roll it out for all cams?

The latest Beta FW is supposed to correct this on the V3 Cameras. I was also told that this issue is related to Android and should not be happening on iOS.

What about the V2s and cam pans?
I’ve got two V3’s and (so far) they are not the ones with the problems.

I let Wyze know this is happening on more than the V3’s. They are looking into it.

I did provide a link to this thread so they can see and provide updates if possible.

I’m using this on Android. My Wyze app version is v2.40.0 (190). I’ve noticed the 3001 error on 3 of my cameras. Two are Wyze Cam v2, both at FW version 4.9.9.1851. One of those two I have Cam+ on. The 3rd camera that I’ve had the 3001 error on is a Wyze Cam Pan with FW 4.10.9.1851. I do not have Cam+ on this camera.

For everyone’s benefit: submitting log files is not the same as contacting Customer Support (206) 339-9646 Monday - Friday 5 am - 6 pm PT and Saturday 8 am - 4 pm PT. Log files do not get a response unless they are associated with a support ticket created by directly contacting Support.

I agree! My reply the him was flagged because I was a little to honest about his statement. He would have us believe that everyone seeing the 3001 error has a problem with their network.

With so must talk in the forum about the 3001 ERROR. Support should have been on this long ago. We are Wyze customers. Not Wyze employees. They keep trying to push this problem to the users. When the problem is the provider. We are seeing this problem on Wyze cameras. My guess is most are using the current app and firmware. In the hope that an app upgrade or firmware upgrade will fix the issue.

Gwendolyn Evans just posted this in the FB group when I asked for an update:

" I got confirmation that the 3001 fix for Wyze Cam v3 is going to be rolled into firmware for your affected devices. ![:slightly_smiling_face:

I can’t promise a timeline but it has already been validated through Wyze Cam v3 and that will help."

Thanks for the update. Hopefully they can get that fixed for those who are experiencing this on the various devices. I am curious to know why it affects some and not others. It sounds like they have figured out the cause if they’re able to resolve it for people being affected.

This is also my point.
If I download the video it plays fine from my phone media player.
If I try to play it through the WyzeApp it gives the error 3001.
So for me it ā€œseemsā€ like an app bug rather than something that could be fixed by firmware.

The fact it affects android & not iOS would also match this assumption.

It would be really nice to be a high level technical explanation of the causefor better understanding.

I have been having the same problem. I used Wyze online chat and after trying several things I was told to force stop the app, restart my phone and then restart the app. It worked! No more error 3001 for two days now. Fingers crossed.

If you are still being affected by the 3001 error, I would recommend ā€œvoting on itā€ by liking that post.

To be clear, Wyze has indicated that they are working on this issue already on several of the cameras, so they are already aware of it and actively working on it. Thus, whether it gets the most votes in fix-it-Friday will not make a difference in whether or not Wyze addresses this, since it is already actively being addressed. The small extra benefit that it would get from being the Fix-it-Friday ā€œwinnerā€ in this particular case is that it would be added to the weekly Fix-it-Friday reports until it is resolved. Increased communication on this particular bug is something that some of you have expressed wanting to see related to this particular issue, and getting it into Fix-it-Friday would do that for you. Not every bug needs a ton of communication, but it seems that this one, in particular, could benefit from increased communication.

Feel free to comment here or there which camera models you are still experiencing this issue with, and maybe what firmware number you are on. That will help when Jason relays this on.

I get it on my android phone my google phone and my HP lap top it’s a WYZE PROBLEM THEY WON’T FIX OR CARE TO FIX.

For those who have given up on Wyze due to their continued quality problems and poor service (as I now have), which alternative camera brand/model have you found that performs better?

Now getting Error Code 006 ob my doorbell, guess my Cam Plus subscription isn’t fixing things. So disappointed with Wyze and their management…
