Does Wyze have a user product customer group which includes people like @carverofchoice, @SlabSlayer , @spamoni …, …
that they run their new product ideas past before bringing them to production?
If not, maybe a good idea…
The Software (App) and Firmware Beta Testing Group is volunteer based, open to the public, and is handled thru the respective OS App Store depending on available slots in the Beta Pool. Instructions are in the linked Wyze page below.
Wyze has a Hardware Testing Program for new products that they are considering or developing. They have an Alpha Group internally or by invitation and they have a Beta Group open to the public. Applicants are selected for participation in the Beta Group by Wyze on a per opportunity basis.
Registration to be on the email list to be considered for Hardware Beta Testing opportunities can be made here:
https://wyze-testing.centercode.com/key/WV181WW862H087CK
Participants can choose which opportunities they apply to with each opportunity posted. Note that each opportunity receives thousands of applicants that are on the potential participant email list. Participant slots for each opportunity are highly selective and limited. It is not uncommon to apply and not be selected.
Both Software and Hardware Testing are explained in:
Not really. Wyze uses the Test Availability / Center Code process. When a new device is being proposed or needed to be evaluated, they release notification for individuals to sign-up. Then Wyze will go through and select individuals to perform the testing of new devices and provide feedback.
Once the testing has been completed, Wyze will either update the devices for further testing, preparation for release, or shelve the idea/concept.
The testing of new Firmware and Apps is available to all by signing up. I see @SlabSlayer provided the link above.
Thanks, we volunteers do get to interact with some employees more than others as part of our duties to help escalate important matters or bring important things to the attention of employees and sometimes to get important answers about things, etc and we always do our best to advocate for and on behalf of users. You apparently recognize our efforts to do this and we will always continue to do so. Your implied recognition is much appreciated. We are still normal users/customers like most everyone else here, albeit users who are very familiar with almost everything related to the company. And in some ways we aren’t always a good representative sample population of Wyze’s average user demographic, despite being an important part.
Partially for this reason, Wyze does what the other guys explained above…they have open beta testing options for hardware and services that they allow the public to apply for. This is super popular too. Lots of people apply for Wyze Hardware testing especially. Wyze has talked about their methods for this in the past, but in general they try to get a mostly randomized representative sample of testers and have various testing groups give them feedback on a wide range of things related to the test product/service. As stated above, they use Centercode for their testing. I would encourage as many people from here as possible to sign up for it. I think the more diverse voices we have giving them feedback, the better. Like in that other thread where I wrote an open letter to Wyze with Feedback, I have mostly avoided adding more comments in there because I don’t want to dominate the conversation or make myself the focus. Wyze will listen to feedback much more effectively the more it comes from a wide range of users, and I think it makes a very positive impact that when it works that way.
I am glad that Wyze gets input from lots of people. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they can or will implement all feedback given to them…they may even have some limitations based on who their hardware partner/ODM supplier might be (they have several different ones), but it is cool that they do actually run tests with good sample sizes of people to give them important feedback. Respectful feedback/criticism/praise are all very important. I know Wyze employees also review the wishlist and that feedback on wishlist requests do get considered. That is one of the best ways to share ideas and desires. Vote on things, add a comment, etc. Wyze may not respond to all the comments, but a pattern of consensus in the wishlist carries a lot more weight and credibility than any volunteer could ever do alone.
@tc10 you do a good job adding your voice in the wishlists and general threads, and it is appreciated, especially since you post both praise and respectful criticism and wishes/wants. That is really important. Even our attempts to advocate on behalf of users would be empty and meaningless without the power of the voices in here, like yours, for us to reference and refer employees to. The voices of people in here, and the users who get selected for Centercode testing, and the users who volunteer for Beta Testing…they are all very helpful. Everyone here is important. The more people they can select from, the better and more accurate everything will be.
Keep up the good work.
Though I will admit if you wanna be a hardware tester best of luck. Either I’m totally doing something wrong or they use an extremely small pool of people to do their testing. I’ve tried for 3 years now on almost every hardware testing and never once been chosen. I’ve even done hardware testing for other companies that would not be considered competition for Wyze just in case I ever was to get chosen for Wyze. But so far no luck.
Wow 3 years of trying! Hopefully you get in soon.
They’ve talked about why it’s so hard to get in, many times in the past. This was their explanation back in Nov 2021 back when the number of applicants was even smaller than it is now:
One recommendation I have is to keep your basic and extended profile up to date and current as much as you can. That is what is referenced when new tests become available.
I update mine every time I get a device. It’s just odd I hear of someone people being chosen over and over and then other such as myself for years have been trying to get in and can’t. And all I really said was it was hard to get in. I understand there are reasons. But at some point you even the law of average says you gotta get chosen eventually.
And the information that you supply doesn’t say if you’re male or female does it? It’s just technical information I thought.
But I do keep everything up to date.
Oh, you just reminded me to update that I now have a Pixel 9 Pro XL as my primary test platform.
