Thanks for sharing this!!! Finally, a break from what I refer to as “death by notification”. I’m not sure why Wyze didn’t tell me this during any of my dozen phone calls and emails.
I’m still confused about Wyze’ misuse of the word ‘other’, which should not include any of the smart detections whether those detections are turned on or not. A vehicle is always a vehicle and is never an “other”.
That is one benefit of the forums. You can get real experienced Wyze users to help other users with things like this that may not be mentioned on their website, but which we know a solution for because we are so familiar with the products and good at problem-solving workarounds to get things working the way a person wants.
Yea… The scripted troubleshooting is nonsense. Anyone that actually needs that basic advice should be hung up on. Tech support should be limited to advanced issues ONLY and NOT for illiterate people that don’t know how to complete basic adjustments.
It would be nice if that were the case. Having worked tech support in the past, I can confirm that the overwhelming majority of the calls tech support gets are frivolous. Companies would save SOOOO much money if they can develop a way to filter out and resolve the frivolous stuff without having to pay a human to tell people something that is usually simple and often obvious to the majority of other people with even the most basic tech skills. The long-running joke of “is it plugged in” or “did you press the power button” sadly has too much truth to it, though it evolves a little over time…most people are at least capable of that level of checking things nowadays, but the overall principle exists for the majority of wasted tech support resources.
But you’re totally right that tech support SHOULD be for advanced issues. I would love for it to be that way.
Thanks! this seems to have fixed my busy notifications which were “Complete Motion Detected” when cars drove by.
For whatever reason, even though the events show in my history as “Vehicle”, maybe that’s not being tagged quickly enough to prevent notification in the app as “Other” in realtime.
I also reported this back on [Wyze Ticket 4137589] where I had previously been told “We’ve received similar reports from other customers, and we’ve escalated this issue to our Engineering team for further investigation. Along with the logs you’ve submitted, they will be able to review the situation and work on a solution to reduce or eliminate these unwanted notifications.”
